I have the same problem on my GT5238E. I restarted my computer to a checkpoint for restore point. In the rebooting process the screen says "windows failed to start due to a possible software change". I've placed the recovery disk in the drive and restarted. Same message. I've tried starting in every safe mode and it brings me back to the same message. Safe mode doesn't work and recovery disk is not read upon restart. I'm I done and if so can I have the data saved from the hard drive?

Hope you have a recovery disc for your computer.
Try pressing CTRL + DEL while restarting, see if you can start the computer in safe mode.

Hi olubunmi14 , please try going in to safemode and uninstall the application , In order for you to get safemode, just keep tapping on F8 while your computer is booting up. Once you're done uninstalling it simply start the computer in normal mode and no need for you to tap F8 just let it restart...seems that your computer cannot hold that huge amount of memory that is needed for your antimalware program, you might as well consider some anti-malware that wont use a lot of memory ...nowadays its necessary for these application to run all the time especially everytime you open your computer so that uses a lot of your computer memory..let me know if you need more help... :)

Toshiba satellite L675 freezes after startup. Windows &

Boot the computer into "Safe Mode".

To boot PC into Safe Mode follow these steps:

1. Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
2. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
3. Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected, not Repair Your Computer
4. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
5. When you are finished with troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would

If the computer boots into Safe Mode you can try disabling Startup Programs, one of these might be causing your computer to freeze. To do this follow these steps:

1 Press Start. Type msconfig into the search bar and press Enter. For XP, click on Run and type msconfig there.

Yes, I have used the Eusing registry cleaner for many years on many computers. It works very well, it's not too aggressive, and it's free. The Free Internet Window Washer is pretty good too.

My computer CPU suddenly blacked out without any notice but the led light still showing the accessibility of it. as a result i have to restart the computer again and again.

You can hit F8 when the computer restart, and tell the computer to boot to safe mode only. If you have another computer download ccleaner and save on a usb stick, then after the other computer re-boots run the program. There should be a registry fix button on that program and that should fix your problem. Some how your regestry got corrupted, and this program will fix it.

Can't find DVD drive under My Computer and regedit fix doesn't work for it

you may have to check the registry manually and if this will not work, you may have to reinstall windows.

1. click start > run > regedit > ok.
2. In Registry Editor, expand the following registry path:

3. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

4. Delete Upper and Lower Filters. (If only one is availabel, that's fine).

5. Restart system and check your drive again.

NOTE: Make sure to do this correctly or else, system will not load to windows.

If manually deleting upper and lower filters will not work then you may have to backup your files and reinstall windows.

Check whether the hard drive is detected in the BIOS or not.

Remove the hard drive & wait for 3 minutes and reseat the hard drive.

Check whether all the cables are connected properly.

Try doing flea power & the power cycle.

1. Disconnect all the peripherals like keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner & monitor and power supply from the CPU.

And press & hold the power button for 1 min, it will release the flea power from the mother board.

Restart the system & check.

2. Disconnect everything.wait for 5-10 minutes and then connect every thing & start the system.

Restart the system.

In this case you can make use of the system restore.

For XP :

Boot in to safe made by pressing F8 key(function key 8) can be found on the top row of the keyboard.

login to your account & start the system restore from start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore.

select the date on which it is working fine.

After completion the system will restart automatically.

Now you can boot normally.

For Vista :

Open this link to know how to do that :

If the system restore doesnt help reinstall the whole OS.

If the hard drive is detected then you can now install the OS by changing the boot priority device to the cd.

Good Luck.
