Question about Airlink Routers

1 Answer

Airlink router worked fine until cable internet (Cox) was turned off for non-payment. when service restored, router will not send internet to computer. Have checked internet signal and ethernet wire, also is wireless but does not work either. Had to buy new router which works fine, but liked Airlink and don't think it is dead and would like to go back to it.

Thanks, but the problem is the ROUTER, not the modem. and anyway, the same modem works fine with the new router I had to buy. how do I get the old router to work again, that was the question.

Ok, I appreciate it. It is an AirLink 101 and it has both wired ports and wireless.

Albert the unfortunate problem with cable modems is the equipment serial number. when your modem is deactivated by the company the serial number becomes locked in other words they view the modem as a loss and the only way to re-activate it is by a different user not your account. I know it is a stupid way of doing things but they think it will stop cable theft.. Goofy huh.. Anyway have a great day.. Be mucho blessed... mark

Hey albert I did some research and found out tha there is a generic problem with Airlink routers and some of the newer modems. I also talked to one of their techs, and this might do the job follow these steps.

1, You must do this procedure from a computer directly plugged in to your router at port #1.

    2. Open your internet explorer and in the address bar at the top type in this will bring you to the log in.

3.your login is (username...admin) (password...admin) this will put you in to your router.

4.Once in you have to go to the "firmware update" and download the latest update.

This should solve the problem if it does not let me know please.

    Take care..Be mucho blessed

You need to power down the modem, router and computer then turn them all on in the order - modem first, then router, then computer... Doing that and barring anything else that should work for you!

Can I use 2WIRE 2701HG-B router in COX internet connection

No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.

The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.

If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........
