Question about Samsung SIR-S4040R DirecTV DTV Receiver / 35-Hours Video Recorder

The picture is fuzzy on that cable box.

On one of my tv's I noticed that the picuture was fuzzy. I thought it was just a loose cable. Tightened up all the cables, but still no difference. I finally narrowed it down to the cable box. Could it just be dusty inside?

No, didn't help. It's strictly with the cable box, nothing to do with the tv. I'm going to take the cover off and make sure there's no dust. I think that MAY be the problem.

Thanks!

Try this......

1. if u can manually tune the channel, and then fine tuning it....
2. if that doesnt work, go to menu, picture menu and decrease the sharpness to somewhere around zero.....

How to reset the dvr-r box and remote when the tv is black and the same the boxes

You have an HD TV right? Has it worked before now? Make sure the cables are going into the right in and out on TV and dvr-r and make sure the cables are secure. Now make sure your TV is turned to the right setting or right channel to view dvr-r make sure dvr-r has cable/satalite cable going to in cable port and the out cable on the dvr-r is going to the TV (the port may say beside it what setting TV needs to be on to view it if not refer to your TV manual) if smart TV that recognizes new hardware unhook the port and turn TV on without it and then go see if its listed in your activity menu...if still listed try and figure out how to edit it and remove it then turn TV off hook back up and turn it back on and it should recognize it and you name it and set it all up and see if that resolves the issue. No make or model of either electronics make it very difficult to help but I hope I said something that makes sense and it works. Good luck

There is no picture on tv

1.is the tv plugged in & getting electric?
2. Does the tv show a raster,a blue screen.
3.is the tv getting an input signal , assuming that the answer to 1 &2 was yes.
4. Is your cable box plugged in.
5. are all the connections into your cable box connected
or did one fall of
6. did you pay your cable bill on time.
If your cable box is bad , the cable company should fix or replace it for free. If you or someone else unhooked the connections, say by tripping over them, the cable company will restore the connections and chatge you a service call fee.
7. do you have dish or direct tv? either of those services will loose picture if it is raining out and picture wont come back until after the storm passes.
8. if you have dish or direct tv, and a branch,a person or an animal, a bird, has fallen on the dish/direct tv antenna, it may have misalligned the dish and it will no longer recieve the satalite signal. THere is a reallignment service
available;dish network charges $95.00 unelse you have insurance, like i do,so it only cost me $15.00 I never had direct tv soi could not say, but dish net claims direct tv is more expensive

You can allign the antenna yourself ,if it is not on a steep roof. You need one person moving the antenna & another person at the tv telling him if the picture is getting better or worse. The dish box comes with a built in signal strength gague for that purpose.

enjoy considering these options and they next time you ask
please enclose all the information that you can so that we have something to go on and work with.

I have a Sky+HD box on a unit, the opposite side of the living room to the where the tv unit is. The Sky box can only go here due to satellite dish cables. I have run coaxial cables underneath the floor...

Unscrew f connectors from LNB, and rewire to desired location, or tell sky to do it or you'll leave. They will put you through to retentions, but will end up sending someone out to do te job

Have a dish 625 and hooked up new 1080p got a picture like a cartoon--fuzzy with blurry borders around images what so i do?

Hello, this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. A fuzzy/distorted picture can be caused by a couple different things. First of all, although your TV is 1080p HD, the 625 DVR is a standard definition receiver so the picture may not be as clear as expected. You should be getting a clear picture, but it will not be HD. First thing I would do is check the cables, making sure that any cables that you use are secured, and not damaged. If possible you may even want to try replacing cables. You can also try performing a reset on your receiver if you haven't. To reset your receiver, you simply unplug it from its power outlet for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in. Your receiver will reboot, which takes about 5 minutes. If you have performed all of these steps, or continue to have the issues, please email me at matthew.gonzales@dishnetwork.com.

Quality loss is common when running through multiple connections.
Try installing a booster where one of the connections is located. Also one of the cables could be damaged or running close to power cables (i think this can sometimes cause problems.)
Found this site whilst trying to find info to help you and thought it might be of use to you:

TV suddenly lost colour - gone black and white Virgin Media.

most likely the problem is due to a "lock up" you need to reset the system, unplug the set, and look in the back panel (I am assuming it is a digital (flat screen tv?) for a small (usuall) red nipple, again making sure the power is unplugged, depress the nipple with a bll point pen for about 5 seconds, wait a few minuets, and plug the set back in, you will most likely need to go to your menu for set up again, but you will be starting with a clean slate (so to sleak) and the tuner should then correctly pass the signal though

Digi box picture and sound out of synch

you more than likely have a bad box from cable company easiest fix is to unplug then plug back in. The technicality is that your box is loosing data packets due to noise(electrical interference) which can originate in your home or possible someone in your nieghborhood

Fuzzy tv screen that says lost signal (no dishnetwork signal)

Here are a few suggestions,

*Check your connections to make sure none are loose.

*Try checking the Dish box to make sure everything that should be turned on is actually on.

*Also make sure channel 3 is the correct channel by contacting your service provider.

I hope theis solution is helpful. Please take a moment to rate this solution.

Blurry Picture from JVC I'ART connected to Mortorola HDTV reciever

Good day.

Maybe the problem is with your television set. Sometimes, loose connections within the TVs' circuitry can cause this.

Try to isolate this problem first by informing your local cable operator for verification by field technician.
