    Hello
Ihad that problem, the problem is that where you put the disc (the blackCircle) tends to get a bit loose so it moves downwards.

so the distance between the lens and the under surface of the DVD / CD is reduce, so the beam is NOT return to the lens.

The way I fix it is by pulling the black circle EXTREMELY carefully and SLOWLY while you are turning it.

Onceis out, with a toothpick or a needle put a small amount of crazy gluein the inner walls of the hole that is in the center ( where the poleof the rotor goes in) this way the hole is reduce.

Wait till it dries, then gently put it back in, it will be a tight fit, IT MOST NOT GO ALL THE WAY IN!!!

Bythis i mean that you will see the pole of the rotor go into the hole, but it most not reach all the way, it should be below the surface. Thedistance between the end of the pole and the surface of the blackcircle should be THE THICKNESS OF THE BLACK CIRCLE.

The way to know that the distance is right, put in a CD and play some songs, then try it with a DVD.

If it reads no disc it means you inserted the disc to much, pull it out a bit, then try again.

Once it reads both CD and DVD, fill in the hole with a drop of crazy glue, this way the black disc will not move anymore.

Onemore thing, I do not recommend to use alcohol in the lens, 'cause somelenses are now made of polymers non resistant to abrasive, instead usea cue-tip (cottonete, little pole with cotton to clean your ear)moistened with bottle water or distiled water.

Note MOISTENED not soaked or wet.

    Hope it works for you.
    Best Regards
    Luis.

The guy above is correct. I gently pulled the black dvd piece upward while twisting and it came off. Then ito get it correctly placed i put the black piece in a dvd and slide it just barely on. I tested it and it worked perfectly. The silver pole that the black piece fits on will not be exposed out the top anymore. I put super glu into that hole to keep it from sliding down. Good job guy.....!!!!!!

My Polaroid DVD player has been used very little. I charged the battery; put a dvd in and it says "Loading" and never starts playing the movie.

Sounds as if the EYE is dirty. Look closely at the spindle (cd mounts on) and try to locate the glass eye. Swab with alcohol gently, I mean gently.

If still bad, then the eye transport mechanism needs to be replaced. Not hard couple of screws and flex cable, look for part number and then go to matelectronics.com good luck, be safe..

Dvd freezes on a frame

Well, when that has happened to me, I have examined the DVD and there are usually fingerprints on the disk and removing them with plain water on a sponge and drying with a cotton cloth has solved the problem. The more oil from the print the more disturbed the picture.
