What's going on with these BIOS upgrades? I just flashed the BIOS on my mother's A215-S7433 and it shut down like the instructions said it would. Now it will not boot and will not read from the CD drive. What is going on here that so many people are having issues with it? I've flashed the BIOS on other systems and never had an issue. :/

Even if the bios was messed up during installation, I'm sure that hitting the power button would at least draw electricity too it. Now it may not load anything, and could just show you a blank screen, but the darn thing would still run.

This may be an unrecoverable issue. The bios are very touchy, it's the built in programming that allows the computer to work, never do a bios update directly from the internet, download, save, then run. If the loss of power corrupted the bios, in most cases they cannot be recovered, and since the bios is what tells the machine to power and run, cannot be reloaded. You will probably need to replace the motherboard. Take it to a tech (Bestbuy as a last resort), tell them what happened and see if he/she can recover it. Techs have diagnostic discs for this, however and again, if it won't power due to corrupt bios, the disc won't do any good and they'll probably tell you the same, motherboard replacement. I hope I'm wrong on this and it's just something simple.

Need to know how to reset power on password for hp

If this is a BIOS Lockout Password, then you would need to Pull the CMOS battery From the laptop... Which most likely means Complete Disassembly of the laptop just to get to the battery... You would have to unplug the battery... Make sure the Laptops Charging Battery is also Removed and the AC Adapter is NOT plugged in...
Once the CMOS battery is removed, Hold the power button down for 30 seconds... then replace the battery and see if it is bypassed/removed..

There is a good chance that the BIOS password is on a security chip on the motherboard and if this is the case, then pulling the CMOS battery will do you no good... You will need to replace the motherboard if this is the case...

I can't get my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527) to work after a memory upgrade. I have also tryed reinstall the memory that came with my computer but it still won't work. It won't even load the bios....

Hi there.
Its basically the same as a desktop, only one difference. When you are working with a laptop you have to make sure you remove the battery as well as removing the AC power supply.
Make sure the above is done, go and find a clean, dry, soft paintbrush, remove the memory and clean the contacts and the slots with the paintbrush. Re-seat the original memory in the original slot, flip the laptop right side up and plug in AC power only and try to power up. If it works shut it back down and install the new memory and do the same, if you get post screen your all done, just put it back together making sure the battery is the last bit. Post back with the results.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

IBM T30 - power issues

You might try cleaning the battery compartment. Makeing sure there are no damaged pins. Often times even a single messed up pin will cause this. Also this is a very good indication of adaptor failure. If you haven't allready I suggest getting another ac adapter specific to you machine. Even a substitute will casue the same issue you are now experianceing.

Won't power on

Hi gdpreston1,
According to Toshiba all you need is a bios upgrade.
In very rare cases, the battery pack of your PC may stop accepting a charge, i.e., the battery stops working & no longer supplies power to the computer. To minimize the risk of ever experiencing this problem. Toshiba strongly recommends that you download and install the latest BIOS by clicking this link below.

ACPI Flash BIOS version 5.90 for Tecra A7/Satellite A105 (Intel) (PTA70U).
File: ta7i0v59.exe
From what you posted you "are" experiencing the above.
Much better than buying a part!
If you need anything else just post back & we'll go from there.
