Wayne Dalton, Classic drive Model 3018.
The garage door opens without any problem; however, when in pressing the button to close it, it goes 1-2 feet and then goes back up. I checked the sensors and it does not appear to be the problem. Any suggestions would be a great help before I have to go out and replace it.
thanks
Same problem......red light is flashing...but when I hold down the button it will go all the way down......and it goes up fine.....although a little jerkySame problem......red light is flashing...but when I hold down the button it will go all the way down......and it goes up fine.....although a little jerky

You don't. The springs are inside the torquemaster and if you don't know what you are doing, you can get severely hurt. Call a Wayne Dalton dealer and let the pro's do it. Chances are your springs are broken anyway if the cables are off. Or better yet, call any other dealer and let them do a Torsion conversion and get rid of that torquemaster so you can work on it next time.
I would look into buying a liftmaster jack shaft its a much better unit but to get u buy just press the little red button on the opener type in your code
Release the garage door from the opener and open the door by hand, if it is vey heavy you may have a broke spring inside the torsion bar above the header, check then to see if the opener goes through the complete cycle O K with the door not attached. If you don't have a broken spring you may need to increase the up force on the opener head.
your infrared sensor is either misaligned, faulty, or you have a broken wire from your sensor to your door opener. (Flashing light indicates infrared light path is broken). both sensors should indicate green led. door wil not come down is safty feature to prevent door from closing when light path is broken.
