Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3
Help! My razorv3's keypad is not working b/c ea time i try pressing these buttons there is no response to anything i want to do, ie, call a number, search for options, etc. it only responds to starting and turning off the phone, at times when i press a key the options start jumping around on the screen. the only way to stop this erratic behavior is to flip close the cover. several days ago i got caught in the rain but the phone was inside my pant's pocket, so it didn't get as drenched as my head and chest. i left it in the pants overnight but in the AM the pants weren't wet--hanged them out to dry overnight. also sometime in the past, i did have to take out the battery a couple of time b/c it wasn't turning on, then it did, and also i have dropped it several times before the rain incident.
is there any way i can do to fix this, but to spend $75 to possibly have it repaired (as told by Motorola and by a so-called rep store from Motorola), . also the inconvenience of not having it for a time and having to mail it far away in the state. they only have a few stores in NJ.
I had the same problem tonight and found the solution here.
I'll save you the trouble and copy the text.
"""I had the same problem with a razor: only the on/off key worked. The solution that worked for me was a simple cleaning, I didnt have to buy a membrane. To do this, you have to take the top apart (the part that has the camera), and clean a connector with alcohol. Its a bit challenging, so I'll explain. First you will need to take the 4 front tiny rubbers out of their spots (near the big LCD screen), one in each corner then you will need a special STAR screw driver, ( I used a tiny flat-head screwdriver and was careful not to strip the screw head). Next you will have to pry the back open with a small flat screw driver. There are two connectors visible, one connects to the camera the other goes back into the hinge of the phone. You'll need to clean the connecter that goes back into the phones hinge. Gently pry the silver top of the connector until it seperates and clean it with a q-tip and alcohol, let it dry, reconnect it, then try the phone out. I had to clean it 2 or 3 times so i wouldnt screw the phone back up until you try it, but eventually it worked good as new. """
I actually cleaned it about 4 times and it didn't work until
I screwed everything back together.
