Posted by on

  • Anonymous Jul 15, 2008

    Hi,

Please help me. I am typing and different letters are coming up for each letter that I type. Also, each letter is double striking over each letter.

    What do I do.

    Thank you.

Either the printwheel is ng or the sensor is dirty. U might have it set on bold print for the double strikes. Lawrence

It sounds like the ribbon is twisted and interfearing with the P/W Try installing a new ribbon and check the P/W for bent or broken spokes.

Hey, I just pulled a Smith Corona Electra 110 out of its case, plugged it in, and started typing. Everything was going smoothly, but when I pressed the "1/4 1/2" key the letter bar started...

Take off the bottom pan (2 screws). In the upper area, with machine on its back, you'll see levers that trip cams for each character (springs attached to all of them). Carefully spray a light lubricant over the area and work all the keys till they free up. You should be able to see the problem key if you power on while looking in that area.

When we type a letter it isn't typing the key we are striking.

The Pitch switch is probably in PS position put it in 10 nor 12.

Change font size on my bother ML 100

A typewritter is not like a computer. It is a mechanical device, that works by pressing an embossed letter in the daisy wheel through a inked tape into the paper.
The only way you can change either the font type or the font size is by buying and replacing the daisy wheel by another one with different font type/size letters.
To get to know more about your typewritter and accessories that might still be available to it, download Brother ML-100 Typewriter User's Manual
Click on "Go to View/Download Page" and in the new page click the "View/Download" button.
Look for page 16 (last page) of the manual for a list of cassette daisy wheels.

Typing different letters than what i am striking

Your are on the wrong keyboard setting. Look around the typewriter, usually on the left side of the keyboard, and you will see a setting 1,2 or 3. Keyboard one is the one you want.
