You need to replace the two convergence Ics and most likelt 4 of the 6.8 Ohm 1 watt resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Here is the link.

Thats caused by failed convergence ICs. You can get the DPTV305-DPTV345 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which also applies to your model. The kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

Philips 55P8288A tv has a dull color and a red hue.


This sounds Like the the coolant for your piture tube has become cloudy and needs replacement (usually blue or green tube - thats why the image seems ovrely red).It's a big job (labour wise) since completee dissassembly is required ($200-300). It can be done youreself - check out TVrepairkits.com to get the coolant and instructions.
You can confirm that this is the problem by dissassembling the unit to the point where you can view the face of the CRT's (red green and blue) directly.

This is a common problem. Your convergence has gone out.

Common symptoms are...

1) 3D Video
2) Warped Video
3) Convergence menu does not adjust the red or blue correctly.
