If you ever see sparks coming from the range or oven, unplug it immediately. Then, when the unit has cooled down, try to find exactly where the sparks came from.

If the sparks came from an obvious place like the surface burner heating elements or the bake/broil element, repair or replace any defective component you find. If you can't locate the place the sparks came from--or can't fix the problem yourself--contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Might they be too clean? Is it possible that you have soap/food/grease buildup on the ignition points? It sounds like your spark is not strong enough to light the gas.

If my electricity goes out is there anther way to light my gas stve that has and electronic ignighter

If you have a gas range that allows the gas to flow freely on the surface burners, you can light them by using a match or lighter. Hold the match or lighter adjacent to the burner you intend to light and slowly turn the gas on. The burner should light.

However, the oven still will NOT work due to that fact that modern ovens are electronically controlled by the control panel on the range. So...you will still be able to cook, using the surface burners, but the oven will not function. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

When I turn on a burner, all the other burners click like they are trying to turn on as well. The clicking is continuous and really annoying! Thanks for your help! Tammie

Anytime you turn on a gas range all burners click for safety reasons. If a knob has been turned by mistake the gas lights to prevent gas from escaping into the room. If you turn the control knob past the LITE position after the burner lights you should be OK and stop the clicking. If the clicking continues regardless you have a defective ignitor switch that must be replaced.

When I plug in my gas stove, it makes a clicking sound

That is just the electric igniter clicking because the module or switch got damp.try unpluging the range for at least 12 hours and retry,if it stays clicking the module will need to be replaced, but alot of times it will dry out and be ok,there is no of gas leaking if the valve is in the off position. hope this helped you understand your clicking noise.

Burner flares up when going from low to off

if the flare-up is yellow, it is flakes of ash burning off. if you take apart the burner and the pipe leading to the burner and shake the black powder-y stuff out of it, the yellow flare-up will stop.

Igniter of back burner dies not click or light

I had the same issue with washing the top with water and cleaning solution. I had arching, eventually one burner failed to ignite. I tried the above solution and it did not work. Remove the ceramic top on the burner that will not ignite. Turn on another working element. Do you see the igniter working?

If so slowly turn on the gas on the failed burner and it will ignite. I'm looking into what component automatically controls the igniting and gas release when the knob is turned on.

Magic Chef Gas Oven - Heats up slowly and has intermittent gas smell

STOP USING THE OVEN IMMEDIATELY!!! You are not getting enough air to the burners to burn all the fuel. Not only will you have an explosion hazard, you'll have a carbon monoxide hazard either of which will KILL YOU. Read all of the info below before you begin.

You need to clean all the burners and inlets thoroughly. You probably used the oven for a lot of broiling of meats or it is quite old. The deposits are clogging the tubes which gauge the amount of air entering the burners or the burner holes themselves. The burner tubes are generally removable by removing one screw and giggling the units clear. Before taking anything apart, note carefully the positions of any mix plates and scribe small marks between the two surfaces. Use a heavy duty cleaner or WD-40 to loosen grime. Don't use abrasives like Comet. Then wash in mild detergent with hot water and dry. Be sure all burner openings are clear. After assembly, note the color of the flames. They should be about 90% blue along their length from the burner head. If they are not, you didn't finish the job cleanly or you have another problem. If the burners are old, rusty or have irregularly shaped flame holes, replace them.
