Two days ago, the fan stoped working. I don't smell anything, when I placed my hands on the unit, I can feel there is some electricity sensation and sometimes I can hear some noise for 2 secs.
I spoke to a friend and he said it may de the condensation system. Unit is from 2004, does it have still warranty on it?

Re: FAN IS NOT WORKING ON MY CARRIER UNIT
It sounds like it is the run capacitor on the fan motor is defective.
Typically when this fails, the motor will buzz, and get hot - without rotating. When it gets too warm, the temperature cut-out will shut it off untill it cools down.
Try replacing this with one of a similar value or a genuine part.
I don't think it is under warranty after this time.

the answer to your problem is most likely the motor start capacitor. A AC motor can run in both directions. The start capacitor is used to cause the current to lag behined the voltage which determines the direction the motor will turn. Its posible the start and run capacitors are in one can. so changing one will change the other. However look for a wiring diagram. Do not asume that both capacitors are wired in properly. They may be fighting one another causeing premature failure.
You can check the cause of that smell if you have the tools to open the unit. The first test is to place a piece of paper in front of the evaporator and start the fan. If the paper is **** or stays in front of the evaporator, you have a clean evaporator. If it is not ****, you need to open and clean the unit. The blower may be filled with dust and molds. It is best to find someone who knows how to work and clean your a/c unit
Did you smell anything in the house right after the pipe noise in the wall? Could have been your refrigerant line bursting and now there is no refrigerant in the system to transfer the heat and give you cool air.
If nothing is happening could be thermostat control wires cut? try using a jumper wire @ the furnace their will be a board with the letters R G W Y B try to jumper R to G the fan should come on. if not its in the controls of the furnace if fan comes on replace the thermostat. don't short the wires you will blow that small fuse. ok depending on what part of the world your in and the season .
Winter: most split systems are designed around a set given temperature of operation , if this is a heating problem the what you are experiencing is the system going into deforest . bare in mind that those carrier splits are manufactured in china and are designed for about 35 deg C in summer and +5 in winter , anything out of this temp range will cause this , especially if it is running on freon 22 , in-which case it sounds like its short of gas to me . if its a new R410 a system , then check your filters and if they are clean and its still doing the same then it too is short , in each case a refrigeration mechanic is required.
