I called 1-800-Samsung and set-up an appointment for a service technician to replace the motherboard and power supply. But the power supply had to be back ordered, which meant a 14+ day delay. So the service repair issued an exchange claim # for the LCD and asked me to call the Samsung exchange service and refer to the claim #. Took about a day to have the exchange approved and they agreed to exchange it for a LN40A550. Unfortunately, I now have to wait for someone to call to set a delivery/pick-up date. Good luck, hope this helps.

Update on the new LN40A550: still the same problem. The HDMI cuts out then in when playing a DVD--I get a "Searching for Signal" message. I even replaced the DVD player with a new Samsung-1080P8.
Samsung requested I call them back so that they can walk me through the process of trouble shooting the problem before they issue a service request.
    Stay tuned...

You're right! I returned the Samsung 1080P8 DVD player and purchased a Philips Soundbar HTS8100 at Costco and now everything works! No more "Searching for Signals" message when connected with HDMI. How embarrassing for Samsung, their own DVD player is "not completely" compatible with their LCD's. I had to say "not completely", because it did work with composite A/V cables. But who wants composite when you can have HDMI?

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

My Samsung LN40A530 only produces a blank blue screen whenever I try to use an HDMI input source. Audio seem to come through fine but not the video. Other, non-HDMI video inputs work fine. I've tried...

We are having the same problem. We have 2 DVD players with up-converter to 1080i and 1080p. Both DVD work fine (one Sony and one Samsung) with our Samsung LN-T4053H upstairs, never intermittent.

LN40A530 downstairs is having "Searching for Signal" problem. Took it back to Sears got a new one, problem followed. Something is wrong with this LN40A530. Perhaps firmware update is needed.
