Question about Flat Panel Televisions

1 Answer

Samsung 40 inch LCD

I have my Samsung LN-40A530 LCDTV hooked up to one peripheral, a Samsung upscaling DVD player. I just bought both a couple days ago at Best Buy. The TV periodically goes blank or blue and I get the message "Searching for Signals" before it returns to the picture. I have unplugged the TV and replugged it several times, but I still have the same problem. Thanks for your help.

By hooking up another device to the TV, I found out the problem was with the DVD player, not the television. It was a Samsung upscaling DVD player. So I returned it for a Sony and no longer have the problem. If you have a Samsung DVD player, that could be the problem, as some models are documented to have HDMI output problems.

I just bought a samsun 40 inch tv and I wanted to watch cd movies but I can't find dvd player, I thought all tv had them now, how can I watch cd movies, do I have to get a dvd player to hook up to the tv?

Yes, you would need a dvd player or some sort of additional media player. They have alot of different kinds out now. You can even use your cable box to order movies, or you can even use a device that will stream movies instantly such as netflix.

I have a new Samsung HD tv and have hooked up my DVD player. I have a Directv remote. How do I watch my movies now?

You will still need to use your SAMSUNG remote to switch the source inputs since I do not beleive the DIRECT-TV remote has full function of the SAMSUNG remote.

Howdy,
It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thanks for using FIXYA, big IRISH.

I had a problem with a Samsung 46 inch LCD and it had audio and dim light but no picture and found out that the logic board toward the top (inside tv) was bad and was no longer available and the only way to fix it was to get the entire display panel (the logic board came with it) It was not costwise to repair. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a different source is the problem, start by eliminating each source hooked to the set, I have seen cable boxes do this, see if it does it on a dvd
