This idea may work when a multitude of devices become erratic in function, display info on the screen that is incorrect or just won't work at all.

Lightning strikes near by (even with the device connected to an isolation strip) power interruptions and excessive heat can cause electronic equipment to mal function.

Do the following:

Make certain that the device has ADEQUATE VENTILATION!

Remove all dust from the grill in the back of the unit in the fan location.

Un plug the device for at least 24 hours and permit any stored current to drain from the unit.

Then restore current to the device.

If the problem persists, plug and unplug the unit several times, observing the change in the screen, until the info there changes to the proper display.

If this does not work, you need a tech assist.

Angelo.

If your RCA remote is universal, you can use its code search feature to find a code that will control some or all functions of your Pioneer DVD/VCR player. If searching is unsuccessful, your RCA remote may not have a suitable code in its library.

Loading and closing in altenance (1 min. cycle) Pioneer DVR633 H

The easiest thing to check is if a button is stuck, either on the unit or on the remote.

If that's not it then it is probably a sensor gone haywire. Try unplugging the unit when it's open, blowing air into it to remove any particles that may be in way of the sensor. (I hate recommending that option. Little pieces can get blown around and cause more problems. It's MUCH better to open the cover and try to clean it out that way.)

This is normal for this player. To disable this, you would need to turn off the TV guide function.

DVR633H timer recording screen inaccessible

I had the same problem. Contacted Pioneer tech support, they had me send the machine in even though it was out of warranty; apparently a hard drive problem that they were researching. They sent it back with HDD replaced, worked again.

Cannot record DVD-R's

I could not record DVD-R's on my 633H.
Calling Pioneer I was told that I had to use DVD-R's rated no more than 4X.
I ordered 4X DVD blanks and have not had a problem since.
However, when I told the service man at the hi-end store where I bought the unit what Pioneer had said and that it fixed my problem, he said it was baloney and to bring it in and he'd have them fix it - that it should handle DVD's supporting higher write speeds.
I didn't take it in as the 4X blanks are cheaper and I don't want anyone mucking around in my machine when it is working OK..
