Question about Epson Stylus RX500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

The RX500 prints only one color or two

My three-year old RX500 does not print more than one or two colors only, and not completely. I have no error messages. I replaced all the low ink cartridges, I re-downloaded the driver, performed nozzle check, nozzle clean. Nothing. I have tried to connect the printer to a different computer, turn things off and back on, re-boot,....nothing. The Epson help site is useless. I have been using after-market cartridges for some time without problems. I tried with an Epson original black ink cartridge ($20) : it shows full, but I do not get a single drop of ink from the black nozzle.

    Inky, you are the best! It worked. I had to repeat the process a few times, but now all the colors print well. Thank you for the help.

    Happy to help. Bear in mind if you are using compatible carts that you help keep your quality up by doing this routine any time the nozzle check pattern shows a loss.

Press all these buttons:
Power+Load/Eject+Stop+B&W+Color
When printer turns ON, "Init eeprom" appears

Error messages; Error: "Cartridge Error 50C"; Cartridge error; Black cartridge missing; Color cartridge missing Solution Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.

Error: Black Cartridge Missing
The black cartridge is not installed. (Install cartridge PN 82)
Error: Color Cartridge Missing
The color cartridge is not installed (Install cartridge PN 83)
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:

  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

IS THERE ABILITY TO PRINT BLACK INK ONLY WHEN OUT OF COLOR INK?


first go to your start menu. Then click on Printer and Faxes. When there right click on your printer and select Properties. When this window opens go to the General tab; then go to the Color tab. There you will see a box that you can check for printing in Gray Scale Only. Check this. After you have checked it, you can then check Black only.

If you wish for this to remain that way until you replace the other colors, be sure to click on APPLY or it will only print the first thing that way. After you have replaced the ink cartridges, use the same tabs to cancel the gray scale selection!

Color printer won't print color


Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Epson stylus photo RX500


Turn the printer off overnight and try the head cleaning process again. Leaving it unpowered for an extended period softens the ink and makes the cleaning more effective. It may require several cleaning cycles.

Poor color print quality HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one


yes..do a clean heads and re calibrate..if you have print manager, it can be done from there.

might be able to get them through this printer driver link

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print


I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
