Deepa christopher Unfortunately, you cannot make the computer a hotspot without a wireless card installed. You could add a wireless card and then search the internet on how to setup the computer as a hotspot with the OS installed on the computer. Thank You, Dell-Jesse L Dell Social Media and Communities
Try following the instructions in the quick start guide. That is what it is for after all. The card goes inside the case, look on the back and see if there is anywhere to fit the antenna. If there isn't you will need to buy a wireless card(it doesn't have to be Dell or even a card- a USB wireless dongle will do the same job and is easier to fit and set up.
I would suggest that you can use PowerColor ATi Radeon 9550 SE 128MB 64bit DDR AGP 8X Low Profile Video Card which works fine with Dell Dimension 4600c. Please write back to me or place a comment if it works for you or if you need any further assistance.
Removing the Power Supply CAUTION: Before you begin
any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in your
Owner's Manual or Product Information
Guide.CAUTION: To guard against
electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before
removing the cover.
Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin."
Remove the fan
Disconnect the AC power cable from the AC power
connector on the back of the power supply.
Unplug the DC power cables from the drives and
Remove the four screws that secure the power
supply to the back of the computer.
As you add more devices to your Dell Dimension
4600 desktop, it is important to ensure there is enough electrical power being
fed to the components. While the 250 Watt power supply that comes standard with
the Dell Dimension 4600 is acceptable at stock settings, it is almost certainly
not capable of providing power for many more devices such as graphics cards
and multiple hard drives. If you add such devices, you also should upgrade your
Dell Dimension 4600 power supply.
If you don't want to wait until Dell send you back one, just go to Best Buy or any other computer store and buy a small-factor PCI network card, I assume you have an free PCI slot available, if you have a wireless router then it maybe be easy to get an external USB-based wireless network card.
IF you already have a wireless router, than any pci wireless card will install in your dell. the instruction pamphlet is simple to follow.
Likewise Any USB wireless adaptor will pplug to any vacant usb port and connect, the instruction pamphlet is simple to follow.
