Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

Saving Files From Creative Zen To New PC.

I have a Creative Zen full of my music, and a new PC with none. How can I save my Library to my PC??

My ZEN had a faulty button so I plan to return it and get another but it currently contains all my music and I have spent a lot of time ranking it so I can get a good DJ list. I need to move it all to my pc and then copy that onto the replacement Zen. I have all of the music on the PC already but I don't want to redo the ranking. Windows explorer seems to have been coopted to prevent copying to my PC. Another way?

Maybe I can help. I'm new at this, but since nobody answered your question yet, here's what I would do. Open Creative Media Explorer - open Browse Media - open Music Folder - then highlight what you want (if you want it all, use Control A) then drag and drop to a designated folder.

I need help in downloading music to my MP3 player. I have a Creative Zen Vplus

Hi
According to Creative Labs, you should either be using the Creative Media Explorer if you are new to MP3 and WMA ripping and want to build up a library or prefer to manage your Zen player as a removable disk drive, or using the Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer if you "frequently need to playback or organize music in your computer".
The Zen player can handle three primary types of audio files too, the common MP3 format, WMA format and the more unusual WAV format. It's quite likely that your existing audio files are in one of these formats, probably WMA if you've been using Windows Media Player to rip your CDs. If you've purchased your music, it'll be in WMA DRM, that is, a version of the WMA format that includes digital rights management (so you can't just email a copy of the audio file to your pals once you've purchased and downloaded it). Those can play on the Creative Zen too, fortunately.
To actually hook up your Creative Zen MP3 player to your computer, you'll need the included USB cable, which should connect as shown in this spiffo Creative illustration:
http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/creative-zen-audio-usb.png (chek the above figure)
Once you've hooked it up, the Zen unit should automatically go into USB connection mode (wouldn't be very zen-like if it didn't!) and then you should be able to find the device by opening up My Computer on your desktop.
When you really dig into the Zen user's guides, you'll find that they recommend Creative Media Explorer for transfering audio files: just click on the "Import Media" button in the application, find the MP3, WAV or WMA files already on your computer, and it should be easy to then copy them onto the player.
That should get you going.

Creative Central reads that mozaic is there, but wont transfer anything to player.

Creative support for Zen Mozaic on this site, showing how to
transfer audio and video in the Knowledge Base Solutions:
http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=54748

The ZEN X-Fi supports the following Video and Audio Formats:
  • Video: MJPEG, WMV9, MPEG4-SP3, DivX3 4/5 and XviD3
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC4 (.m4a), WAV (ADPCM), Audible 4
You can also use Windows Media Player 11 for music transfers.
1. Make a "new playlist" (left side) in the Library or Sync modus
When you enter the name the listname moves to the right side.
2. Putting music in the list
2.1 method 1: right click in the top of the WMP11
screen: File > Open...
2.2 method 2: Reduce your WMP11 screen: right click in the top of WMP11 screen:
Tools > Options... : select "Keep the player on top..." and
<apply>. Now you can explore your maps in Windows having
the player always on top.
Drag and drop files into the new playlist on the right side.
3. Save playlist
4. select Sync in top of the WMP11 and "Start Sync" on the right of the screen; the transfer is executed.

Nothing works!!

If your Zen is not responding or in a "reboot loop" the following information from creative explains how to access the players recovery mode
Hope this helps, and good luck.

Zen V Plus and Zen V

1.

Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.

If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently

insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.

2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.

3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

It will display the following options:

Clean Up

Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.

Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All)

Caution! Erases all content!

Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware

Caution! Erases your player's firmware.

DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.
