I'd say it's going to be complicated for you to replace it yourself but the laser that i bought for my old ps2 was only about $30. You can search the net&see what kind of laser you need! Your laser is weak&old but replacing it will take time.

Cd will not turn/ no data ps2

the tray belt in ur ps2 may have fallen off the wheel which causes the lazer inside ur ps2 to not move back and forward, it is nothing serious as it can easily be fixed back in place. get someone who is good with electronics who u no that will take the cover off ur console and remove the disc tray, then make sure everything is is able to move freely an check taat nothing is jamming it as it mite even be just a bit of thread wrapped around the tracks which the lazer moves on. thats al the help i can give u for now

Won't load or play disc or dvd

It's a well known fact PS2's had a cheap lazer fitted to them, that's why when it gets chiped to play copy games, not long after it starts playing up. The lazer may just need aligning, purchase a cd/dvd cleaning cd rom as these can check audio, lazer alignment and clean the lens.
