I have the same problem..........trying to save to a usb drive, not attached to a computer......it's scanned for months but today right after it scanned the first page it did this error on the second page.

  • JBFt Dec 04, 2008

Mine worked great and then suddenly, in the midst of scanning multiple things, it simply says "General Error" right as it's trying to save the first page to the memory stick. Will try powering off and then on to see what happens.

I have the exact same problem on a 7780, not attached to a computer. Scanning directly to usb drive now results in "general error" message or corrupted pdf files that can't be read.

There is a bug in HP firmware that doesn't allow duplex scanning to memory cards. Once it happens, you need to power down and power on the scanner. (and on a couple of occasions, I had to reformat my memory card)

Gents, I had same prob, its caused by firewall and spyware software on your machines, you have to close all progs via msconfig b4 loading L7680 software. The HP team on the phones were great and sorted it out v quickly goto website and get phone number and then download version 8 from the HP website to your desktop and call them to be talked thru it.

Hello, the dreaded 49.2F9D Error Turn Power On/Off and other related 49 Errors.

This tip relates to the Hewlett Packard P3005 Series Printer - General reference to most HP Laser Printers

There have been many reports of this error in the HP genre of laser printer. This is a generic fatal error; the root cause is undetermined in most cases. It could be related to an application "corrupt data" or faulty printer firmware, or the formatter board or other associated hardware or accessory. The first step in troubleshooting this error is to isolate the printer from any computer source - disconnect from any I/O ports, Network/USB etc... Power cycle the printer. Does the error still report? If NO then an application may be causing the error, try to isolate the file causing the problem. Clear any pending print jobs. If YES then Firmware/Formatter most are the problem. A new firmware file can be found here. P3005FIRMWARE

Pay close attention to PDF files with embedded JPEG files.

Pay close attention when printing Emails or Web Pages.

In rare circumstances the fuser has been reported to cause the 49.2F9D error. (P3005 specifically)

The printer works good. I cannot edit or save my photo images because of this error message: hpqthbo8.exe - Unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because hpqmfc09.dll was not...

normally you will need to let the printer know that you have preformed any maintenance on it by clearing the error count after such an error occurs and is fixed it is normally listed under general or service options on the printer menu but you may need to look through the users manual

hope this helps

I cannot save a calendar as a pdf file. I get the

When your want to save your file as .pdf extension, you have to select a "virtual printer" from your "Printers & Faxes" when you install the software you are using to save as pdf file.

If you select your physical printer install on your PC, the error message you mention will appear.

Hope it helps.

Can't download iTunes, IE 8, HP Printer...Fatal Error MSI Scan is the usual statement, although I've gotten numbered failures too. But Fatal Error is the main one.

Hey

The SCAN.MSI that comes up about your HP printer, that is located on the CD in a special folder.

It would be best for you to completely uninstall all HP programs from the computer related to the printer.
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
unplug the printer first
use the free(ware) version. Download the program, start it, go to the uninstall programs part, find the HP related items and uninstall, Use medium setting and delete all files and items it finds, just click on select all and then delete.

When that is done restart the computer, then use the CD or I'll direct you to the full feature download to reinstall it.

I've delt with this scan.msi issue quite a few times here and I know how to solve it. If this doesn't work for whatever reason you would have to go to the cd (right click, open) and find the scan.msi file, when the error comes up asking for the scan file, direct it there (Exactly to the file in the cd, it may be hidden inside a few folders) and it should solve that one.

Error 8,[ (4,0 -2147023170) ]

Cabgal .... what are you talking about? What you said makes no sense.

Explain yourself better or don't post!

The error is due to lack of memory needed to save/process the scanned pages. If you are scanning a full size book ... try limiting your scan to no more than 100 pages. Before you attempt to scan again ... power cycle the HP printer/scanner. Then run %temp% and purge all of the files listed.

Have a installation problem installing the officejet pro 7680. It comes up as a fatal error and "MSI.DOCPROC

I'd suggest removing all of the HP stuff from your system (may include a bit of directory diving and registry diving if needed).

Then, download the latest drivers from the HP website and install them.
