I have a 9 year old HP LaserJet 1100 that will not recognize paper in the feeder (yellow light flashes or sometimes stays lit). I have reinstalled the printer as well as shut it down and rebooted several times.

you have to replace the Paper Feed Roll Assembly

HP Business Inkjet 1100 stops everytime after the first line stars to print. The power is one, the ink drop light is lit, the "yellow" indicator light also on, and the paper light all on. None of them blinking. We replaced the yellow cartridge with a brand new HP 11 yellow cartridge. Turned the printer off and on to reset. Printer comes on everything looks good till you try to print anything, even a on line word doc? Then it happens again, so we replaced the yellow again...same thing. We ever cleaned print heads, Any assistance would be welcomed?

In the paper-handling menu set the envelope feeder size to the size of your envelope and the envelope feeder type to *any type.

Then ensure you are printing envelopes from your application.

the document feeder is on top of the lid you raise to expose the glass. IF it is trying to feed from there and there is paper in it then the sensor is bad that recognizes the paper. Some of these have a little light that will turn green when you put paper in it. If the light doesnt illuminate then that is a sure sign the sensor is bad

If the supply lights are not lit, then you may have a paper jam. Check the rear cover. Also sometimes paper jam lights come on even though the paper has not jammed, just misfed from the cassette. Please let me know any further details.

when the printer give you a yellow flash that should be means a fault happen so you have to do the following:
1- check if any messages appears on your computer when you trying to print something that should be help you. if not go to step 2
2- black paper may be come from the (P.C.R.) that is the charger of the drum, so if you can open your cartridge and check the charger at the op of the drum that will be good and if not you may change the cartridge and check again.
3- Also, you can release the cartridge and look inside the printer may be you can find something wrong or something need to fix
4- Other wise go to hp help center

The cartridge has a small electrical circuit board on it. That circuitry may be defective so that the printer does not recognize the cartridge. Return the cartridge as defective and try another. If that does not solve the problem, then discard the printer. I've read that most printers are manufactured to only last about three years.

Are you using generic toners or HP branded? Try to reseat the yellow toner. The page counter can't be reset and should not be. This unit uses chips to recognize the toner level. Generic toners don't always have good chips on them.

Have you tried reinstalling the fuser? I am thinking the gears are not driving the exit rollers. If you purchaseda rebuilt fuser, there may even be a gear missing. Compare your new fuser to the old one.
