Why is the camera beeping?

Was using the camera with no problems. Turned same off. Went to use it later and when I went to turn on the camera the lens opened, the images appeared, it beeped and then shut-off automatically. I have had this camera for about 8 months. Can you please help and let me know why this is happening?

Just put fresh batteries in my Samsung S730. When I turn it on, the screen lights up, beeps 3 times, & then shuts down? What's up with that?

I have used my samsung s730 camera 4x and now I went back to look at the pictures take over the weekend and it turns on - then beeps 3 times and shuts off and locks up - I have taken the batteries out numours times - I have put several new bateries in it - I have take the memory card out. Nothing seems to work - I tried calling the Samsung "tech" line - all they could tell me was to do what I did and that was all they new - that the warrenty was expired and that if I didn't have a receipt it would be 59.00 to get a warrently to then send it in. - well it was a gift and I am sure that they do not have the receipt. Has anyone found away to fix this - is it a defunct/"lemon" camera?

I had t he three beep problem and also the lens was open. I tried batteries - then i noticed the lens was slightly bent - i tried straightening and it snapped and went into place. then i tried turning it on and it was fine and when i turned it off the lens closed.

Maybe your lens is bent.

Most probably the lens problem, it got stuck or it's damaged. Try to gently pull out the lens to see is it only got stuck or take it to service

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Camera won't work

I had the exact same problem. Camera turned on but turned off soon after, with lens still outside. Not to mention that awful beeping noise. I noticed the lens was crooked as if it was stuck. I pulled it out and I heard it click into place, for a second I thought I had broken it. I then turned it on . waited & it remained on, I turned it off and the lens went in and it turned off! It was working again. Good Luck!

The better solution is to send it to Canon's service people.  They can fix he problem is the fixes at the above site won't work.

When turned on, lens goes out then right back in, eventually camera shuts off. view mode OK.
