Monitor won't stay on

My hanns g 19" lcd monitor comes on for about 1 - 2 seconds then goes black. It does this every time I reboot or turn the monitor off then on again.

I did try it with another computer and got the same result, so it definately is the monitor. Any thoughts? Should I just buy another or is this a fixable problem?

I have the same exact problem with the HANS HW 191D. Stays on for 1 - 2 seconds, then drops. Tried several computers, XP and Vista new drivers nothing has solved the problem. I about to throw it out the window!

Mine does the same thing as well. Mine never used to do this and i have had it for about 2-3 months. it has only started doing it from about 1 month ago. Strange. i might as well go back to the shop and get a completely different brand and style than this one.

Same problem, had the monitor for 3 months, only started doing it about a month ago, getting progressivley worse

I have the same problem also. Had mine for several months. If I keep fiddling with it (powereing on and off) it sometimes will come on and finally stay on. I sometimes will work for a while and come on when booting after each shutdown I do. Sounds like to me a problem that ain't going away. I too am about ready to throw out to dump. A six month old monitor should not be having these problems. The price I paid was in the 200 dollar area at the time I bought it. Screen looks good when it is working. Just wish it would work as I expected it to when I bought it.

Screen comes on for a split second while the computer is starting up and then it shuts off. While "playing" with the OSD settings, I have been able to see a very faint, unreadable box, definetly the adjustments, but no use. Solution one says the backlight has blown, but if that's the case, I would think the screen would never come on at all. I'll definetly seek more advice before throwing it out.

Hey. This problem is caused by the Backlight bulb(s) blowing up.
This is fixable. You have to get into the monitor and remove the LCD screen to see what bulb you need. This is a moderately difficult job and fragile parts will easily get broken.

However by all means have a go but this is the problem that you guys have been experiencing

If you are experienced in electronics repair, or know someone who is, the my 90% sure guess is that you may have blown capacitor(s). they are the electric components that look like little cans. replacement works almost every time.

I have the same problem. I disconnect the display chord (which connects the computer and the monitor) and refix it 2-3 times and it will be normal.

Now I have a new problem, The power went off when my computer was switched on. After rebooting the computer, the monitor is blank. All it shows the blinking power light going from green to orange every few seconds.

My ProView 19" flat panel lcd monitor goes black 30 seconds after boot. If I turn it off and on it comes on and then goes off after 30 to 50 seconds? Can I fix this?

I askedd this last time but you did not answer. Is the monitor located in a well vented area? Sounds like the monitor has been in a area of poor circulation and has reached a point where it overheats very easily. Try putting a small fan behind it to see if it causes it to stay on longer.

Hanns g JC199D will not turn on, comp is on, try to turn monitor

no signal indicates a couple things... i suspect your computer isn't even booting up. reboot the computer while tapping the F8 key.... you should see writing on the screen... boot to safe mode. after it sucessfully boots up... reboot again... should be fine.

also is that an add on video card ?

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Beautiful screen, lasts about for a few minutes, goes black. Power button still green. If I turn it off, and then back on, it works again for a while. Any ideas?

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)

internal power supply failure, the AC power supply that powers the backlight fails every time you turn it on. Unfortunatly electronic repair is costly, A new monitor is cheaper.
