I see no belt driven parts. Instead, there is a series of gears. The gear closest to the lens holding part, moves about a quarter inch clockwise, then returns to previous position. It's as if the gears have moved in their starting position, ie, the gear has slipped.

I cleaned the lens. The lens still stays electronically stuck in the "Loading" position.

I would suggest you to take out some time for the cd player, bring up you tools and open the box, locate the lense and try to clean it with a soft damp cloth and that is going to resolve your problem clean it very gently and don't apply force, any further question please post a message ill get back to you. It a very simple job which you can do it and that can save you buks.

Hi,

Check whether the tray is sticking against something like a piece of paper.

It could also be the loading belt slipping. Its a small belt underneath the DVD tray.

You'll need to take the case off so make sure it's unplugged first.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Please dont put liquid anywhere near the lens, it will leave a residue which could disrupt the laser light as it travel through the lens.

When you close the tray, the mechanism that holds the lens and spindle motor should rise and lock, is this happening?

The motor that drives that is the same one as drives the tray but not the same as the one that drives the laser assembly.

You need to locate the tray motor which is underneath the tray and can be difficult to find. You may need to remove the tray to find the motor. Be carefull to note the position of the tray when you take it off as you will need to realign it when you refit it.

The motor you find under the tray should be connected to some gears by a small belt. Try cleaning the belt but it may need replacing.

    Hope this helps

    Andy

When the tray closes does the motor that spins the disk rise up to lift the disk off the tray?

Try a CD lens cleaning kit, you can get one at Walmart for around $10. If this doesn't do it, then the optical reader ahs failed.

CD and DVD cleaning kits are the same thing. There's no physical difference in the optical eye.

Won`t play dvd`s.try a cleaning disc no luck!possible dvd diode gone?any help please.Nigel...

Hi Nigel,
There are three reasons for discs not playing.
First, if the set has been lying for some time, the loading belt becomes lose and the loading is not complete. The result is no disc play.
Second, there is dust on the lense. Again the result is no disc play.
Third, the lense unit has gone bad or weak. Here also the result is no disc play.

I load a dvd in the sylvania sdvd 9009 player and it says no disc after loading

If the DVD loads, there should be something on the display that indicates it is being read (maybe a spinning disc icon). If it tries to read, then displays the "no disc" icon it means either that particular DVD can't be read or the drive has failed. If you try another DVD and get the same result, you can be pretty sure the drive has failed

Vhs is stuck in machine. Won't play and won't eject.

There are any number of reasons why it won't play. The loading basket is jammed, the video tape has got tangled up in the mechanical section of the vcr or the loading gears are stripped. Unplug machine and remove top, [screws side and back] if the tape is spewed carefully remove by cutting it and clean tape particles, for any other problem have a technician check it out.

Open & close disc doesn't work. It is open not but I can't close it. Looks like both open and close don't work.

Hello
There are three possibilities for this trouble with this DVD player. The first one is imprper loading function due to loading motor or loading belt trouble. If loading motor is weak [that is its pulling power has gone low] the tray will not close properly into the mechanism, and will not touch the load sensor switch fitted inside the mechanism. If this happens, the main system control IC will detect improper loading and will turn the tray out again to load it properly. Just try to close it without a disc inside the tray, and check whether it closes well. If it does so, or the trouble repeats, change the loading belt first. In most cases, this will retify this type of trouble.
The second one is, bad 'Sled' motor. sled motor is one, which spins the disc inside the mechanism. After proper loading, if the disc do not spin inside it, again the system control IC will sense it, and will eject the tray. The sled motor also is a replacable part.
The third one is, damaged gear wheel in the loading gear section. to detect and repair any of above trouble, you have to open your DVD player, and take the DVD mechanism out of it, and is somewhat semi-skilled work indeed. Check these first. If you want anymore assistance from me, feel free to get be by fixya. If you are somewhat skilled, and have confidence and can follow the diagrams, send your email address to me by FixYa. I'll send the service manual of your DVD player by return mail. All details and disassemblng procedure are in it. OK

Tevion player shows BAD DISC,

Since the unit is under warranty, you can't touch anything without voiding the warranty. This problem could be as simple as a dirty lens. Bring the unit in for repair under warranty.
