i would suggest calling technical support to see if the sim card you are using is even compatible with your laptop, you should not be having this problem if it is.
Are you sure it is the SIM slot you are looking at? There may also be a memory card reader, which would be much bigger than a SIM card.
If you remove the laptop's main battery pack, you should find another slot hidden in the battery bay, which will be the correct size for a standard SIM card.
Here's how you can install the SIM card...
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Remove the battery.
3. In the battery bay, slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot.
4. Replace the battery.
5. Turn on your computer
actually, I know the solution partially.... and i need that solution too. Open your battery, then you will see a sim card slot (some metallic type). Now you know about drivers then tell me name of driver...
The SIM card is for a mobile data plan. If you go to say...AT&T and purchase a wireless data plan on the cellular network and insert the sim in the back of your laptop you will have internet access on the cellular network.
That slot is an ExpressCard Slot for WWAN cards that require a sim card in order to
connect to the provider's network. Not all WWAN cards require sim
cards to connect. If you get an ExpressCard WWAN card, and that card requires a sim to
connect, then usually there will be a place on the card itself to put
the sim. The sim slot in the battery bay is because most mini-cards do
not have room to add the required sim card slot and still fit into the
system.
you need the DW5530, it will work with the sim card slot you have. I beleave it goes inside the pc into a mini-card slot ( mini pci express not into a usb port )
