Urc3220 codes this remote does not list codes for my gpx dvd player if i do a code search will i be able to find the code or will i be wasting my time

Search online for vendors of replacement OEM remotes.

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Search the site by type in the brand name of your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the Home page display" to see the set-up codes to your device, with different brand remote controls.
Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.

The search function of your RCA universal remote can be used to find something that will work with your GPX DVD player.

your remote will have the name (in your case "GE universal") and somewhere on the remote will be a model number, when you find it go to www.remotes.com or simply search for ......
"GE"+"universal remote"+"[your model number here]"+"manual"+"PDF"
Then hit search and you will find a pdf file of the manual on the list of hits.

My universal remote "ONE FOR ALL" has 2 options in case I lost the code list:
-Search
-Code Retrieval
Yours may have something similar

I'm not sure you're going to be able to use that remote for that DVD. Philips / Magnavox remotes don't list codes for GPX equipment. I've managed to find a couple of codes that might work but no guarantees here:

0699 or 0769

Your best hope is to use the auto search function on the remote control. If that doesn't work, then it's unlikely the remote will work for you. Do you still have the instructions for programming the remote?

I do not see a listing for TruTech DVD recorders in the One For All URC-3021 Code List.

But don't give up; many manufacturer's re-use other's control codes. Therefore, I recommend using the One For All URC-3021 Code Search feature to find the compatible codes to control your device.
