Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Samsung DLP-TV, HL-T5055W. The instructions say to clean it only with a clean dry cloth, well my dog made nose prints on the screen. Is there anything I can use to clean them off, since a dry cloth is not working.

How Can I Clean The Fingerprints Off The Screen On My TV? I have a Samsung DLP-TV, - spacer.gif To clean fingerprints and greasy smudges off your TV screen, first try using a dry, anti-static cloth and rubbing gently.
Note: Many Samsung TVs come with a screen cleaning cloth. Use that cloth and follow the directions on the package.
If that does not work, get a bottle of ScreenClean screen cleaning solution or similar screen cleaner. You should be able to get it at most regular and on-line stores that sell monitors or TVs. Put a small amount of ScreenClean on a clean, soft, dry cloth, and then rub the screen gently.
WARNING: Never use any type of window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, or any cleanser with solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or paint thinner. Never use abrasive pads or paper towels. If you do, you can scratch the screen or strip the anti-glare coating off the screen and cause permanent damage.
Cleaning It Right There are four steps you must take to do the job right:

  • Unplug your TV before you begin to eliminate the risk of electric shock.
  • If you use ScreenClean or a similar screen cleaner, put or spray the ScreenClean onto the cloth. Never put or spray it directly onto your TV screen.
  • Wipe as gently as possible. LCD, Plasma, and DLP screens in particular are fragile and can be damaged if you press too hard.
  • Let the screen dry completely before you plug the TV back in.
Food and DLP Screens Getting sticky food such as peanut butter or jelly off the screen of a DLP TV is especially difficult because the tiny grooves in the screen's surface trap small food particles. In fact, you probably will not be able to remove the food entirely. If you need to remove sticky food from your DLP TV screen, follow the directions above, be patient, wipe gently, take additional time, and understand that you will almost certainly leave some food residue on the screen.

How to clean your dlp tv screen?

1.Check your TV to see if it has a screen shield. TVs with a screen shield are covered in protective plastic and are much easier to clean than those without them. Look at your screen and see if it appears to be smooth or bumpy. If you still can't tell, touch the screen lightly with the tip of one finger. If it has a shield, it will be hard and rigid; if not, it will be soft.

2.Clean a DLP TV screen that has a screen shield by wiping it with a dry microfiber cloth. Start at the top left and move side to side until you've covered the whole screen. Use gentle pressure and touch the screen only with the cloth, never with your hands. If just using the cloth doesn't get out a stubborn soil spot, dip the cloth in a bowl of distilled water that is at room temperature. Wring out the cloth and try wiping again.

3.Clean a DLP TV screen without a screen shield only with an approved screen cleaning kit. Your best bet is to purchase one directly from your TV's manufacturer. However, you can also find generic kits at most electronics stores. Each kit comes with a cloth and cleaner that will not damage the delicate screen. Follow the same side to side method to wipe the screen as outlined in step two. Again, avoid touching the screen with your hands.

4.Avoid letting liquid sit on the screen. Since you shouldn't use much, it should dry quickly. If it's still wet after two minutes, use a second microfiber cloth to dry.

Bug in screen

It is unlikely the bug got between the inner Fresnel lens and the outer cylindrical disperser lens of this DLP as the separation is minimal and blocked off all around. Much more likely is that is inside the Fresnel lens and may be cleared off with a clean microfiber cloth through a port to be found on each side (guessing) of the set. Try not to add dust. You can also go to avsforum <http://www.avsforum.com/> and search for Samsung HL-P6163 or similar 5-year old. -Ken

No. Refer to your owner's manual on cleaning. You may have dust buildup around the vents or you aren't providing adequate ventilation for the unit.

Cleaning the TV

On each side of the set is a round access panel. Remove the oblong style cover to get to the screw that holds the round door on. You should have access through the hole once the hole cover is removed. Don't spray anything inside and cleaning should be done with a dry soft cloth. If you need further instruction, reply to this post.
