If the interior is dirty or the wave guide dirty or worn out it can cause this. The wave guide is on the interior and looks like a piece of stiff paper. Clean it carefully as it's delicate.

very possible your magnatron is faulty. Disconnect 2 transformer wires and make sure they dont short. try the program again. if no noise, replace magnatron:capacitor and HV diode Please i strongly suggest an electrician help you as it is truely dangerous in there. .
You either have a bad magnetron tube (5 or 10 year parts warranty item through GE Factory Service 1-800-432-2737 or www.geappliances.com) or a shorted high voltage rectifier. I think the light being out is a secondary problem.
