Canoscan n640 not work in windows 7

Canon stopped supporting this scanner after XP. The available software and drivers are here: .

Depending on the version of Win7 on your computer, you can try one of the following workarounds. To check your version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If it says x64, you have a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Otherwise, it is the 32-bit version.
1) If you have the 32-bit Win7, you can try the compatibility mode. Download the driver or full software from the Canon site and right click on the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator. Then check if the program itself is running in the compatibility mode by right clicking again and choosing Properties. This may not work.

2) The option that will work for all versions of Win7 is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or upgrade to them), you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the Canon site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them. Also a printer cannot be installed on both the real and virtual computers at the same time. You will be prompted to uninstall one set of drivers if you try.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(the above suggestions assume you do not want to replace the scanner which would be faster.)

Hi my name is Mike. I am a sales manager for a large chain of lease to own companies. I have a customer who says that the right speaker on his edison ed-8000k dual cd DJ system is not working. I have...

In its most basic form, a sound system consists of a signal, amplifier and speaker. If there is a problem with any of the three - unexpected results can occur.

Swap the speaker with a know good speaker. If it still doesn't work, it is not the speaker. Change the signal. This is usually done by selecting a different line level input, ir connecting a different device to the input(s). Your device may not have the ability to do this. If you are able to choose a different input, and the problem still exists, then it is probably not the input, either. That leaves an amplifier problem. The amp could have failed naturally, or due to an open or shorted speaker connection, connecting the wrong impedance value speakers, playing at a very loud level, etc. Some amps have a fuse or circuit breaker that opens in many of these situations - your may or may not have this feature. If it does, there's a chance it didn't open before the damage was done though. Needless to say, if you replace the fuse or it doesn't have one and the problem still exists, it will probably need to be sent out for professional repair.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply - thanks!

Resetting Your Installer Code
1. The installer code (IC) is the code that allows you to access the system programming. If you forget your IC, your alarm company probably won't give it to you. This is because they use the same IC for many installed units and keep it a heavy guarded secret. If your forget your IC code, you're going to have to reset it.

First locate and disconnect the transformer. This is a cube-shaped wall outlet, usually placed around the alarm control panel. Next, shut down the alarm system's power supply. You may have to unplug a battery if you have a secondary power source connected to the alarm system. Once the alarm is powered down, you will reconnect the transformer and the battery in that order.

The rest of resetting comes on the keypad. Within 30 seconds of powering up the alarm, go to your alarm key pad press down the * and # keys simultaneously until you see "20" displayed. At the same time, you should see "Installer Code." Enter your new installer code while the "20" is still on the screen. Your installer code will be four digits. The keypad will beep to acknowledge the new installer code. After the keypad beeps, press *99 to exit the program. To check if you have reset the code successfully, enter your new installer code and press 1 (off). The keypad will beep once if you have successfully changed your installer code. If it doesn't beep, repeat the process.
Resetting Your Master Code
2. The master code is usually only used by the home owner. Other users codes can also be set up, including manager, babysitter, gardener and housekeeper codes. The home owner will use the master code to set up these other codes. The master code is also the code you will use when you come home and need to deactivate the alarm before it goes off.

To reset your master code, type in your installer code, press 8, press 02 and then punch in your new master code. Press 1 to turn off the programming. Your keypad will beep when you successfully reset your master code. You can now activate and deactivate your alarm system as you please.

I have an Aspire 5024

Yes, you can do a system restore. If you have windows XP, here's how is done:
Press "start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.
Once you open the system restore windows, click on Restore my computer to an earlier time, click on next; now is when you need to know when the audio went missing and do the restore to around the time you found out that the audio was gone.
Good Luck.

Hey sori ive lost my sounds system on my computers

Friend there are several possibillities to this problem and we'll discuss it one by one.
The first possible problem is that your operating system might be damaged by a virus that is why your sound system doesn't work. The solution for this problem is to have an updated anti-virus program on your computer and clean your computer with this anti-virus program. After you have done this procedure, you have to install a software that is compatible with your sound system or if you have a sound card on your computer use the software that is packaged along with your purchased sound card have it installed. After doing this procedure try to connect your sound system to the output of your computer usually there are holes or terminal in your computer that is exactly suitable to your sound system's jack and make sure that you connect to the output line. If this doesn't work install a media player to your computer and repeat those procedures mentioned above. In installing those software it is easy just follow the instructions and read carefully the images and characters presented by your computer screen.
Thanks! I hope i've solved your problem
