Sounds like the rheostat (aka rotary swithch) is opened (fried). can get new one on www.appliancefactoryparts.com for 8.19 + s/h. need to know how to solder though. otherwise you will be looking at having to buy new unit for $120+

Why does LG dehumidifier run continuously and not shut off?

It's your Relay Switch, it's either sticking or is stuck. The switch gets a lot of abuse whenever you empty the reservoir. You can try to reach into the area and bend the switch forward (pressing it back is what turns it on). Unless you know what your doing take it to be checked by a professional.

I have an lg lhd65el. It constantly reads the humidity as low and so never turns on. Can I just replace the hemostat?

I think you are referring to a humidistat, not that thing the the doctors use to clamp off a vein to stop the bleeding which they call a hemostat. I also think you are looking for a part number 6877A30013L which LG calls a sensor assembly. Before replacing it, you could try just blowing out the sensor end to remove any accumulated dust, which may solve your problem.

Runs and allows you to adjust settings, but no water ever fills bucket

Hi,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again. Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue. This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Take care.

Runs - but no water in bucket

Hello. If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.
