Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Kenmore Dryer My dryer shuts off in the middle of a cycle. You have to turn the timer all the way around to restart. This happens every 5 to 10 minutes. I have replaced the control board and the heat sensor. Could the timer itself be causing the problem?

Yes it does sound like the timer itself. sometimes if the timer has a bad contact then the timer will loose power as it goes around. by turning the timer around 1 time it resets the contact and it starts up again.

Kenmore Series 80 electric dryer will turn itself back on after shutting off. I believe I can hear the timer continue to run after it shuts off.

if the timer pointer continues to travel around on to the next cycle all by itself after it has reached the end of a cycle you definitely have a problem with the timer. now however if it does that "and" starts to run on its own you also have a bad push to start switch as well.
good luck, have fun.

My kenmore electric clothes dryer model #110.86984110 shuts down in the middle of a cycle. After a while I can restart it and will run for a little while longer.

when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer, could have a blocked vent line, blocked blower wheel duct where the filter slides into and vac out the inside of dryer,go outside and make sure the air is blowing the flapper fully open, might have to blow the line out with a leaf blower,if the heat can't escape the dryer over heats and shuts down, could have a bad timer, thermostat, or you also could have a bad motor that would also heat up and shut down if it's bad, but try the clean out first and go from there, good luck

Kenmore 68702 electric dryer heat doesnt shut off

If the dryer completes the cycle bit does not shut off, then you have to replace the timer control assembly.

If instead the dryer hangs at the middle of the cycle and does not advance, check the thermostate.

If the dryer does not heath and does not advance, then check the heating element, the thermostat and the fan.

Dryer only shuts off and restarts during cycle

Get a new timer. It is not that expensive and the wiring is fairly simple.

If the venting is clogged this will happen. And that is a good thing because it is a safety measure built in to prevent fires. There is a thermostat that can tell when your dryer is over-heating,(usually caused by clogged venting by lint) and this devise tells the heating element to turn off so as not to create a fire. Clean out venting, inspect thermostats and element, replace if neccesary. You may only have to clean out the venting.
