SOURCE: Do not know how to work/maintain swamp cooler

Evaporative coolers are only for dry climate conditions or deserts. They cannot cool as much as central air or air conditioners which have compressors and refrigerant. The mechanics are simple requiring a water float valve, pump, spider (water distribution), aspen wood pads, blower, belt, motor, and switch. The unit must have a water supply to replenish the system due to evaporation. Your system may have a float valve which you need to adjust to shut off when the water pan is full. Floats can be adjusted by loosening the pivot screw and moving the float up and down to adjust the turn off level or by turning the float to extend or retract the length changing the water shutoff position. You do not want the water to be so high it flows out the over flow tube but the water should cover pump base. Plug in the unit and turn the switch to pump if you have that option on your unit. This will engage the pump to force water from the pan up to the spider to saturate the pads with water. After a few minutes turn the switch from pump to low or high cool. New aspen pads will have an distinct smell which will go away after a few days of usage. If you do not have a pump setting turn the switch to low or high cool which will blow warm air at first then start to cool down. You may also have a fan setting which will blow outside air without any additional cooling if the outside air is humid. Occasional maintenance is to make sure the pump is pumping water and the filter basket is clean and all the spiders are working with water flowing freely. You can use a flexible wire to force it in a spider tube to clean it if it is clogged. You may want to change the water after a month to keep the system cleaner from slime and calcium. At the end of the season disconnect the water supply and drain the water pan blowing out the water line if the winter is below freezing. Replace the pads if they have calcium build up or dry. Flush the water pan out and clean the Add some oil to the pillow blocks which are the bearings at each end for the blower. Check the belt and pulley for excessive wear. Cover the unit with canvas to prevent cold air from coming in during the winter. Next summer season all you have to do is uncover the unit and hook up the water supply.

Need parts, pump for a ED630J adobe swamp cooler in las vegas, nevada

A swamp cooler PUMP is not really model specific. They are basically small submersible pumps. Contact ANY swamp cooler dealer in LV, tell them you have a 4500 CFM unit and need a pump.
The pump part number for this size cooler is: PN 110436 (there are several alternates)

Contact these folks and tell them what you need:
National Cooler ' Swamp Cooler
3046 Vegas Dr.Suite 1
Las Vegas, NV 89106
(702) 638-8800

If they can not help you... just look under cooling and air-conditioning in the yellow pages and find a dealer near you. This pump is common to nearly every brand in LV. You can most likely buy one at the local home depot, menards, or lowes.
There is also a Little Giant CK-5 "UTILITY"pump that is used for swamp coolers.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

How do you calculate the cfm in a swamp cooler

Hi,

You will need to figure the cubic feet of space you want to cool, and then divide that number by two. The quotient will give you the CFM rating for the proper-sized swamp cooler.

Swamp cooler fan works good on low but when you turn it to high it goes slower than low is it the switch or motor? is the switch like a riostat which porvides more power and tells the fan to spin faster.

Hi, its possible it could be the motor. You should have a 3 speed motor. The switch should be Hi, Med, Low, cool, same on vent, and pump. If it works good on cool, I would say the riostat switch is the problem not suppying enough voltage to run the fan motor at full speed. They are very easy to change out, just have the new one in front of you. You can go on the Internet and type this in, directions for wiring this and it will show you the diagram. You may want to go up and check the condition of your belt also. Look for cracks, see how loose it is, it should have about 1/2 inch of play when you push down with finger. If not, tighten it by moving the motor bracket. It may be just the belt also. Look at it all. My bet would be the switch. Keep me posted on what you find.
Sincerely,

Swamp cooler only works on high

I;m assuming that it at one time worked on low speed? If so the wiring from the switch to the unit has come loose, or multi speed motors have multiple windings in the motor itself. The only way to check on either of these neccsessitates visually inspecting, which is usually more safel done by a trained professional. If you decide to look into it yourself, make sure you turn electric off to the circuit before opening anything. If you want to check the motor windings you must know or learn how to perform a continuity test. Good luck. P.S. ou may just want to get by with one speed, replacement motor retails $50-$80.

No low speed on my mobile master cooler module no mmb12c

Could be as simple as the switch, could be as complex as a pole burned out on the motor. If you reverse the connections on the speed selector switch and you end up with low speed and no high speed then you know it's just an inexpensive switch.

Frequent short cycles of the Mastercool swamp cooler

Short cycling can also occur in a thermally protected motor if it is overheating. If the other solution did not work, make sure the belt on the motor is not too tight or too loose. A handy person can check the amperage with an amp probe to make sure it is in limits. The adjust the pulley to put it into specs.
