After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.

Check Control panel - >System -> Hardware ->Device manager ->sound video an game controllers.and make sure there is no exclamantion mark and also check other devices to see if you require any further audio drivers.. maybe youhave re-install your audio drivers
