KitchenAid Superba refridgerator, two-years old; the metal jamb between the freezer and refrigerator compartments is very hot. put a meat thermometer on it and measured 132 degrees. white plastic liner on freezer side of jamb is turning brown full height of the freezer side. evrything works, just burns your hand when you touch the magnetic vinyl door gaskets.

The strip of metal between the fridge and freezer sides on my Whirlpool side-by-side fridge freezer gets very hot sometimes and the fridge doesn't seem to be chilling as well as it should. Drip tray is dry, I have cleaned off the compressor. Can't understand it. Is there a cooling radiator along the door jamb or something?

They tried replacing the fan motor but that didn't help. It just burned out in 3 days. Had to wait for a new control board in the fridge.

Refridgerator compressor starts and stops, its a ten year old superba from kitchenaid. i want to think its a relay but if its the compressor, is it going to break the bank to fix?

check to see if the compressor is bad by putting your meter on the ohm setting. check each terminal togther and then also to ground if it beaps when it goes to ground it is a bad compressor. BUT it should beap when you check each termianl togerther. there is three leads one is start one is run and one is common. if you have contunity between these it is a good compressor. i

The refridgerator portion gets too cold and freezes our food

If the two slide controls work and you can restrict airflow that would help. Usually a thermostat that does not respond to changes in temperatures are the cause. But we still need see if cahnces can be done to the airflow control. BRB with part numbers, Sea Breeze

The jamb between the freezer & frig is very

It is common to be warm to the touch. If it is excessively hot then your door heater may be going out. Have a technician check it out. If this fails the doors will begin to sweat and drip onto the floor. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Kitchenaid superba refer side by side

its normal for the temperature to stay around 28 degrees farenheight int the bottom drawer. (fresh cut meat keeps better at his temp). you can adj the temp slide near the bottom of the refrig next to the botom drawer to help adj temp. veggies will almost always freeze in the bottom drawer. also adj the temp controls to a little bit warmer to help as well.

Keep in mind the mid point settings on your refrig is just a starting point for you to adj to where it works best for you and your usage..

Drain pan leaking?

there is a drip pan located underneath you ref but most likely your prob is a plugged drain line coming from the freezer. when you ref goes into automatic def the water doesnt run out into the drip pan but instead onto your floor..

you can clean the drain line by removing the rear cover in the freezer compartment and using hot water to thaw the drain below the evap coil.
