Major issue with recent purchase from Newegg 8600gt silent grahics cards
In january i purchased a pair of silent 8600gt graphics cards for my new Tower of Doom computer. It has an sli motherboard from Asus. The 8600gt are also Asus. They never worked well at all,in fact last month they both died, just all the sudden quit working. I called Newegg and the took them back, they also replaced them. I got these two silent 8600 gt cards replaced a few weeks ago and now the replacements have quit working. My computer case has more than enough ventilation as it has a giant power supply fan, a 120mm fan in the front,a 120mm in the back and yes a 250mm,thats right a 250mm on the side. The CPU runs at around 112f and the hard drive around 97f. I want them replaced, not with another pair of 8600 gt,but with credit for i paid for them applied to getting something different. I will never buy any form of 8600 gt cards again. Its soured me on Asus products and soured me on Newegg as well. Please offer a real sollution and not an automated response.

Re: major issue with recent purchase from Newegg 8600gt...
You bought them inJan 08 and in August 08 the second pait quit working? ask your money back and indeed go for somethign else, ATI Makes some good cards as well.
On the other hand, it remains quite strange that 4 cards died in 8 months time. Did ASUS find a cause for it? i think you should not give up on them but invite them to find the cause of this and come up with a proper solution.

There is no need to go for another card just keep you pc well ventilated. and try to install some cooling fans in it. but if you want real cooling solutions then just purchase a coolermaster gpu coolers from the shops and i tell in the whole world that, they are the best company in producing CPU and GPU Coolers.
The best place to purchase the Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for a Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop is eBay. If available on eBay, the price could range from $230-$300 and search for "Dell 9400 video" or the card name. Some eBay sellers will give you a $50 or so credit, if you purchase a card from them. The video card can be downgraded (ATI Mobility Radeon® X1400 HyperMemory)
or upgraded (NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS or GTX). Also, you can try parts-people.com, but they're typically more expensive and reliable.
Yes, the video card can be repaired in most cases. Search eBay for Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 repairs.
Ok, try this. Uninstall the PCI gfx card drivers and remove the card. Reboot. Go to your Device Manager and disable the integrated card, do not worry about uninstalling it. Shutdown the PC, and then insert the PCI card. Also, make sure in the BIOS that you have integrated gfx disabled. Then if you can boot with monitor plugged into the PCI card you should be able to reinstall the drivers for that card, and everything should work. If not, please let me know. Also, if you downloaded the drivers for the PCI card, try downloading them again as it's possible your download was corrupted.

For your sound card how many plug in openings are you using on your card?If only 1 is all, than that is why.Try re-downloading your soft ware.If your running Vista, than your problem is that,Vista, just like XP started out ,many many incompatible issues with the operating system that will fix them selves with more time.Secondly your graphics problem:Are you using Vista???? You now have a start ,not stating what operating system your running is one problem.
