Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "LGSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers. You can also try the VLC Player, it comes with drivers and codec. Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.
Either your soundcard driver has gotten corrupted or your soundcard has died. You can find both the driver & info on what card you have at www.dell.com. Click on the support link and you can either input your Dell Service Tag & get exact system info, or you can look it up using the system model #. The driver will be available for download. Try reinstalling an updated driver first. If that still doesn't work check your device manager to see if a soundcard is listed. If it is not then more than likely your card has died and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
