Question about Tripp Lite Lite Internet Office 500 UPS System

UPS shuts off

Several times my Tripp Lite UPS has turned off altogether. No home power problems. It simply turns off everything, causing the very problem it was meant to solve. I've looked at the log it keeps, and it shows nothing unusual. Says it was on Utility Power just before the problem occurred.

I'm having the same problem with a brand new Tripp-Lite HT850 UPS which I'm using as a power conditioner/UPS for my home theater components.

With only my HDTV and cable box plugged into the battery outlets, the HT850 has, on several occasions, shut off its battery side suddenly without warning. This has happened with the plugged in components both powered on and powered off.

Repeated self-tests alway succeed and never indicate an overload condition (besides, this has happened with my TV and cable box powered off, a total load of less than 30 VA).

I called Tripp-Lite and they concluded that the unit is defective. They're sending me a new unit under warranty.

SOURCE: Tripp Lite SU2200 UPS has faults

For Tripplite UPS basically if the fault indicator is on you already have to check the power mosfets/IGBT on the circuit board. if you know the basic of UPS you dont need all those schematic diagram to check the thing. by the way, try to check your battery first if its still working. and if the battery is ok, go and check your inverter

Battery is very easy to remove. Take it out and test it. If you dont have a meter to test it take it to an interstate battery store they will test it for you. They sell new ones should you need to purchace one.

SOURCE: unable to open the enclosure, how, no screws visible?

There are 2 (very deep) screw holes at the back of the UPS, but you'll need a long (8"+) philips screwdriver to access them.

SOURCE: have several Tripp Lite Omniplus

A little research on the internet will answer your questions about battery replacements and cost. There are numerous sites selling batteries for your particular unit. Do a Google search on the battery type and see what you get. EBay is another possible source for batteries once you determine which size and what ratings you need for your replacements. The best way of determining how to replace the batteries is to open the UPS's case and carefully record how you remove the old batteries and then install the new ones in reverse order. You will have to open the UPS up to get at the batteries to determine type and specs so removal and re-installation should be easy from there.

Glenn,

When was the last time you replaced the battery? That may be the cause.

I need a manual for Tripp lite omniplus 1000 lcd

Changing the battery

If your Tripp LIte Omni 1000 LCD display a fault icon and beeps after changing the battery, try the advice given by the buzzerman which worked perfect in this case:

1. Turn the UPS on. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.

2. Run a Self-Test: Press and hold the MUTE/TEST button for two seconds (until beeps several times). The test will last 10 seconds. All LCD Display icons will be illuminated and the alarm will sound. At the end of this process the fault icon and the beeping turned off.

Only one side of the outlets work...

From the User Manual:

“OVERLOAD/CHECK BATTERY” LED: this red LED lights continuously after a self-test to
indicate the capacity of the battery-supported outlets has been exceeded. To clear the overload, unplug some of your equipment from the battery-supported outlets; then use the ON/OFF/TEST button to run a Self-Test. If the UPS continues to detect an overload, remove more equipment and repeat the self test until successful.

CAUTION! Any overload that is not corrected by the user immediately following a self-test may cause the UPS to shut down and cease supplying output power in the event of a blackout or brownout.

The LED flashes to indicate the battery needs to be recharged or replaced. If the LED flashes (and a continuous alarm sounds) during a prolonged blackout or brownout, the UPS’s batteries are nearly out of power; you should save files and shut down your equipment immediately.

If the LED flashes following a UPS self-test (after the UPS is turned ON), it may indicate that the battery needs to be replaced. Allow the UPS to recharge continuously for 12 hours; then use the ON/OFF/TEST button to run a Self Test.

If the LED continues to flash, contact Tripp Lite for service. Should your UPS require battery replacement, visit Tripp Lite on the web at www.tripplite.com/support/battery/index.cfm to locate the specific replacement battery for your UPS.

Hope this helps!

How do I set up my Ups? When I try to test it, it turns everything off. And when the power goes out, it shuts off everything.

You must install the software that came with your UPS on the computer that will be connected to the UPS, either via serial or USB. Within the software you can configure when to shut the computer down in case of a power failure.

Hello! I'm from Riyadh Saudi Arabia. I've left on my Tripp Lite UPS 1000 just last night. When I came in my office in the morning, my desktop computer including my computer server was OFF. I supprised that...

Unplug the computer. Then run the UPS self-test and the unit will display whether it finds an overload fault, whether the battery needs to be charged or replaced.
Here are the instructions (copied from the User Manual):
Turn UPS on: Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.

Run a Self-Test: Press and hold the MUTE/TEST button for two seconds (until alarm beeps several times).

The test will last 10 seconds. All LCD Display icons will be illuminated and the alarm will sound.

If the fault icon remains lit, the battery-supplied outlets are overloaded. Unplug powered devices until you remove the overload.

If the "Replace" icon remains lit and alarm continues to sound, the UPS batteries need to be recharged or replaced. Allow UPS to charge for 24 hours and repeat self-test.

After a short power outage (resetting breaker) the protected outlets no longer provide power. Is there a way to fix or do I need a new UPS?

The unit may need to recycle itself. Remove the loads and turn the unit off. Plug it back in, wait a bit, then turn it on. Then try your loads on it again.

it seems that the internal battery is bad, even if it is new but if it stays in the shopping store for long time it may become bad and not charge.
