The inverter only control the back light this is the bright or dim in the lcd the blurry or funny images would be the lcd or lcd cable the only other thing is the 1 in 100 shot of it being a motherboard issue (video on the motherboard). the best thing to do is take the lcd out and try a lcd from another laptop maybe a friends laptop that uses alike lcd this does not have to be the matching size just matching lcd cable connection. be careful the cable should go on with ease no force if you have to force the cable on to the try out lcd then it will not work.

My display is either all black or all white. When an external monitor is attached, the display does work on the external monitor. Everything else works just fine when the external monitor is pluged inn

It's either the lcd itself the the lcd cable has become loose, either way you're going to need to take the lcd housing apart to make sure the cable is nice and secure (both ends - 1 to lcd itself, 2 to motherboard)

If the cable is nice and tight and you get the same results then for sure the lcd needs to be swapped out.

Its seems to be very low Battery. You can remove Battery and re plug it again and check.

Also you can check it by starting your notebook with ac power on.

It problems is still there then you notebook needs to get serviced on autorized service center.

Toshiba Satellite M30 display problem

I decided to read this and I am not exactly 100 sure what the proplem is. I did want to offer a suggestion though. If you are having problems with both the screen and an external monitor, the problem may be with the graphics hardware. If you have a card, it may need to be replaced. If not, i'm very sorry. The motherboard may need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
