Dish VIP 622 constantly resetting

My receiver is constantly resetting/rebooting on its own. I've checked all connections, tried other power outlets, unplugged, hard reset. Nothing has worked!

I googled "VIP 622 DVR" found out many people have this same problem. I told DISH this is a factory defect proven by all the many people with the same problem.

I'm on my fourth unit in a year. This one only lasted a month.

I went away on vacation for two week, and when I came back - our VIP622 is having the same problem. My guess is that we probably left it on when we left, and I suppose it overheated? It is in a well-ventilated area, that clearly is a design defect. It's frustrating that we now have to get a new one (thankfully at least Dish will send us one for free), but we cannot recover any of our recorded programs on the malfunctioning unit. Given how many people seem to have this problem, Dish could at least offer to transfer the old hard drive to the new unit!!

My VIP 622 DVR continuously resets itself. I've had 1 new unit and 3 refurbished units do the same thing. After about a month of use they start resetting themselves. I have noticed that they get very hot so with the last one I've turned it off when I'm not using it. I went out of town this past weekend and actually unplugged the unit. When I got back and turned it on everything seemed ok. It started right up. About 1 hour later it shut itself down. The 10 second power button reset doesn’t fix the problem and unplugging it for 1 minute didn’t work. I ended up unplugging it for 1 hour and then it came on and worked for about 2 hours and shutdown. Now I can’t get it to come on at all. All I get is the green light on, fans speeding up then the green light goes off and the fans slow down all the lights flash and then it does it again. When it works it’s great……

You have already completed all the main steps to try this on your own. Your receiver is going to need internal repair. You can use our premium service for step by step instruction or you can contact a local repair service by using our Repair Service search engine on this site.

SOURCE: Dish VIP 622 constantly resetting

Welcome to Fixya. It is more than likely that this is a result of a new bootstrap software package being downloaded to your reciever. If you do not allow it to fully complete then it will continue to retry and reboot everytime you turn the power on. Best suggestion would be to check the screen to see if it is updating and allowing it to completely finish. If that still does not correct the problem then you will need to contact Dish Network technical support and see if they can assist you over the phone. If they cannot correct the problem this way then they will dispatch a technician to your home to investigate and correct the problem. I hope this helps you to get your programming back on as soon as possible and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you. Have a great day.

My receiver (new) will not turn on? Is there a reset button?

There isn't a reset on these receivers.

If it doesn't show a power light on it, then try disconnecting the power for 30s.
If still no power light
  1. check the outlet it's connected to
  2. disconnect all cables from the back of the receiver but power and try again.
  3. connect the receiver to a different outlet (still with nothing else connected)
if you still don't get a power light on it then the receiver is dead.

My VIP 622 do not comunicate with my LCD via HDMI when i power on i have a green blinking

Hello, this is Matt Gonzales with DISH Network. When just the green light on the front of the DISH receiver is blinking, the receiver is in recovery mode. Recovery mode can take up to 4 hours, but if it goes past that, try doing a hard reset on the receiver. To do a hard reset, you will unplug the receiver from the power outlet, leave it for 15 seconds, then plug it back in. After doing this, your receiver will go through a rebooting process which can take about 5 minutes. If you have the same problem with the green light blinking, the receiver will need to be replaced. If this is still an issue, please send me an email at matthew.gonzales@dishnetwork.com.

I have vip 622 when ipress mode it tell me this feather not supported

imadhamzi

When you get that message, the features are not supported, are you trying to pause, fast forward, rewind, or possibly record? Normally unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for about 10 seconds and plugging back in will take care of this problem. This will reboot the receiver and re-acquire satellite signal. If this does not resolve the issue, we may need to replace the receiver. I hope this helps.

Dish vip 622 and vip 722k frequent picture freeze and restart

Sounds like a signal strength issue. You may have either a low signal or something like a tree limb is blowing into the signal path dropping the signal strength to a point low enough to causes issues.

Vip 622 rebooting. receiver works when just plugged in,once satellite cables attached, will work for a while then reboots. Can get it going again if take satellite cables off then put them back on. But if...

this problem occurs when the ground on the Dish is not properly connected. What is happening is the cables from the dish are backfeeding voltage and grounding out your rec. Now there could be a possiblity that it could be the rec. however if it stays powered on with the sat in cables discon. then it defintley sounds like a grounding issue.

622 rebooting problem

This issue would have to be resolved in home, it is linked to a power issue and your voltage will need to be checked at the outlet your recvr is plugged into, HD DVR's need alot of constant power to operate poperly. the nes time you call about this issue the standard procedure is to send a tech to check voltage.

Dish VIP 622 constantly resetting

Hi,
I suspect that there is either a problem with the LNB or the cable. Make sure you have not accidentally got a strand of the braid touching the inner core.

Maybe try a short length of pre-made cable with the LNB off the dish.

Thanks

Dish ViP622 keeps crashing - on 6th unit from Dish network

the 622 receivers are very sensitive to static electricity build up, if you have been through more than two receivers i would demand having a technician come to your home to check grounding of your dish system, while he is there he will also check the grounding where you plug the receivers in, i suggest not using any surge protectors/power strips and, as debmaldo did, try different outlets, if you have a very high end surge protector, it should be okay but for troubleshooting purposes try a different wall receptacle
