Check for a safety cut-out. This may be a float switch sitting in a tray right at the bottom of the machine. The theory is if a water fault develops, the tray fills up and turns everything off. Check there is no water down there.

If this is not the prblem, it could be that the main heating element has blown, or the circulating pump may be defective. Both would cause the washer to stop functioning.

You say no power - is it completely dead or does some of the control functions still work?

Based on a typical Maytag dishwasher electrical diagram, there would only be two (2) possible components that could cause "...completely dead. Absolutely no power...":
1. Door switch;
2. circuit board (of the control panel)

Of course there may be others depending on the electrical system used by your particular model. Perhaps it would be a good idea if you can post back your units specific model number.

In any case, you would need a DVM to measure resistance and/or voltages. Normally there would be two (2) door switches. In some models they are ganged together while in some they are split left & right.
