I'd recommend backing up your important files and re-installing windows.

There are soooo many possibilities as what it could be but that's not important. The outcome is what matters. So try that first and then let me know if you have any problems following.

I want to replace the Display of my Compaq 6720S and need the removal instructions for this. Thanks.

they're hard. if you haven't done it before its not worth it. not only the front bezel need removing but the whole laptop ripped apart this is due to the bending in the design on the power plate.

Problem with power cord/AC adaptor...maybe?

I would just go buy another battery charger pack. They are like 75 dollars to buy. Sounds like yours might have a short in it!

No power

Do you know if the other battery you tried had any charge in it?
If the battery was charged then it will not be a power jack or adaptor problem. As far as changing power jacks it is not for the faint of heart. I have done several with success on them all but it is not easy. If you are comfortable with opening the laptop go ahead and check all the connections on the inside. Sounds like a motherboard problem
