How do I access the tempurature probe under the griddle of my fourty-eight inch viking range and ovens?

  • Anonymous Dec 08, 2010

I have a viking 48 inch Professional model range and oven. I need to replace the thermostat under the griddle. How do I access the tempurature probe that is under the griddle. I have to replace the whole assembly because of a broked stem on the knob.

Do you have the gas range?
Figure below shows the probe clipped under the grille. You remove the grates and grate supports, then lift the grille a few inches to access the probe. Before removing, note the position and orientation and make sure to put it back the same way.
If this is not the right oven, please reply with or enter a new request with oven model number.

How do I replace a broken stem on the griddle knob of a forty-eight inch Viking range?

You would remove all of the knobs and then you remove the screws holding the face panel on there. Then you can access burner valves. The new part may not come with a preset orifice because the factory does not know which type of gas you have. So what they do is tighten the orifice all the way down. Lets see if I have a viking service manual:

Griddle makes backfire noise

I get the same sound but I found it is actually coming from my stainless steel backsplash, it seems like the heat makes it flex from time to time.

Is there a cleaning manual for my 6 burner/griddle viking range?

I have a product that I use to clean my burners and griddle with, it is made by ECOLAB and is called Greasecutter Plus. It doesn't hurt the range but it makes it look brand new, even my griddle comes completely clean. You just spray it on then let it sit for a bit then it wipes clean.

How do you access the ignitor wires for the

I am assuming your referring to the stove top burner ignitor. Well - I can only say on my Viking 48 inch - it was located at top RHS of the stove on the 'back wall'. I was advised by an 'come to my home tech' that it would be located at the back of my stove (ie he would have to pull out the built in unit and cost me 500$). In fact I replaced the unit in 30 minutes ... I removed the two RHS burners (one screw each), disconnected ignitor wires, removed the bracket holding the burners (one screw), followed ignitor wires to silver box covering the ignitor unit (2 screws), opened it & replaced ignitor. Forgot to say - 1st thing I did was turn off power & gas to the range.

Need to replace griddle thermostat

My husband and I just had to check out our griddle on our 48 inch Viking rangetop. You remove the grates and the grate holders on either side of the griddle..it just pops out. Then you raise your griddle up about 4" to remove your thermastats., noting the position they are in so when you replace you can put back correctly. After pulling the thermastats out, then you lift the griddle out. Griddle is extremely heavy so be prepared to have close surface to lay it. Hope this helps.
