Zebra QL420 Thermal Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 07, 2010

Zebra QL420+, installed on windows 7 laptop, when printing via USB works fine. Change port to local tcp\ip port and unable to communicate with the printer even though I can ping it across the network and the printer is authenticated with the wireless network. Ports 515 and 6101 are both open. Printer is also installed on windows 2003 server with same results. Using Zebra ZDesigner QL420 driver - have tried searching for a generic driver with no joy so far. Any more ideas? Thanks

SOURCE: Using windows 7. Have a Zebra LP2844 printer

I dont think this model has a Windows 7 driver. You can check the Microsoft hardware compatability list to see if your printer is listed.

My Zebra 105Se printer keeps printing blank labels

There are several reasons why this could be happening. If the computer accessing the printer changed then I assume the new computer was recently set up with software to send print information to the printer. I would start with simple calibration and move from there. Zebra Technologies 105SL Printer Calibrating the Printer With Video

My zebra 105Se keeps printing blank labels.

Do the labels come out right when you print locally? That is the first thing to see. Serial devices over a network are tricky. Baud rate and what to do with CR LF, stop bits, parity etc. need to be right.

Can't get windows xp home edition to recognize wireless printer, even after assigning printer TCP/IP address. Windows 7 computer prints to it, but the Windows XP computer can't even find the...

Hi!

You din't wrote what's the model of your printer, but I think we can find a solution:
1. Try to ping the IP adress you assigned to the printer. If that works, please download the latest drivers or installation software from the manufacturer of your printer (or second option use the installation disk that came with your printer). If it does not reply to ping, be sure the IP adress you assigned to the printer is in same range as the IP adresses on your network.
2. It is possible that the installation software itself manage to find the printer on the network, and that means the problem is solved
3. If not, install the printer as it is local attached (e.g USB or LPT port)
4. After installing as local printer, please go to printer proprieties, go to port, choose add a new port, choose standard tcp/ip port and write for the port the IP adress you assigned to the printer.
5. Apply changes and ...that's it.

Please let me know if it helped,

Good luck!

Wireless printer communication unavailable via USB

Hi. Hope you got it working fine now on your Windows 7. If not, go to Start Menu > Devices and Printers > right click on the Lexmark print object > Troubleshoot. Make sure the printer is on and is still connected to the computer via the usb cable.

Remote Desktop printing with TCP/IP printer

Go to the control panel on the remote server. Then go to the printers screen. From there "add a printer". Once there, select "local printer attached to this computer" and make sure to un-check the "automatically detect and install ... " option.

Then click next and select the second option of "create a new port" with the type of port being "standard TCP/IP port"

Enter the IP address of the printer. The name could also be entered, but the IP address would be better. Leave the port name as the default which will populate as you enter the IP address.

Once through there, go through the process of adding the drivers just as you've done before. The screen to do this will pop up automaticall, though it may take a moment. You might be able to just select the printer drivers from the list. But if you have the drivers saved on your server, it is best to click "have disk" and manually install the drivers.

Is the printer driver installed on the vista machine? You might need to install the driver as if it was local, then create a virtual tcp/ip port to print to, and reassign the printer to the tcp/ip port.
