Hello,
If the print head moves left and right smoothly on the paper as it is printing and all the other colors and black print is ok the surely the Print Head is faulty, get it replaced and your printer will be OK.

My Canon Pixma will not print yellow or cyan on my mac?

In your user manual, look for cleaning process. Your printhead is probably clogged, and that is why yellow or cyan wont print. You must go trough process of cleaning or deep cleaning in your printer software preferences.

Im not sure for exact procedure on MAC but it should be something like this: go to system control panel, find there your printer and open it's preferences, there should be something like maintenance mode, and from there you should find cleaning or deep cleaning buttons.

If you cant figure it out, search for user manual online, Cannon has good user support and im 99% sure you will find out user manual for your printer. In user manual there is written exact procedure for cleaning your print heads.

Also make sure that your cartridges are not empty maybe?

My printer power wont turn on when i press button

Try removing your printer cartridges and then the print head from the printer. If the printer powers up with the print head removed, then the print head is either shorted or clogged. If it's shorted out then you will need a new print head (usually cheaper to just buy a new printer). If you can clean the print head without damaging it, sometimes it will work again. Usaully a good 24 hour soak in alcohol or a cleaning solution will work.

Put new black canon 3-e ink in canon Pixma ip 5000 black line of print have a white horizontal stripe through center. I don't seem to have a repair utility t o clean heads and align. Mac OS 10.4.11

The clean heads option should be in the Preferences/Maintenance tab where you go to do other things, e.g. alignment, ink counter reset, etc. If you cannot see this, you mmay need to reinstall the driver for the printer. You could also ask Canon. Finally, if the catridge is a refill or compatible, try a genuine Canon black cartridge.

Canon Pixma IP5000 wont print cyan or magenta

Think you need to clean the sponge that the ink cartridges sit on in the head tray they are probably blocked with dry ink. You can remove the print head and tray by lifting the lever and gently lifting it out..... go here http://www.inkjethelper.com/
to see how to carefully clean it with compressed air. I had to do this too.

I have a Canon Pixma IP 5000 inkjet printer and am using Mac OS 10.3.9. It has 5 ink cartridges: 2 black (3e and 6) and one each yellow, magenta and cyan. I use it all day every day. After printing...

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.
