Open the door, remove the tape, using a small flashlight, look at the edging in the opening where the door may activate a normally open pin switch, much like a washing machine door, etc. If you don't see one, use your hands or a screwdriver to carefully force the latch into the closed position. Does the door open light still remain on? If it does, put pressure against the latch and see if the extra pressure doesn't make the light go off. If there is a sensing switch you noticed close that too. What are the results?
Next to try, insert the tape and close the door. Apply pressure to the door with your hand to close it more firmly. Does the light go out now?
If the answer is always no, the wiring, perhaps on a PCB board is failing and the sensing circuit has failed too probably from an alignment error or burned out sensor. So check that components in the compartment that they are looking normal and nothing is loose, retaining screws etc.
If all this fails, you will have to have it serviced by qualified personnel. Sorry this has happened to you. There would be no other answer but to have a tech work on your camera. Any item that has mechanical components can get out of alignment, especially these camcorders.
Let us know your results. And if nothing I offer helps you out. Please don't rate or vote my solution. I'd rather you didn't give me a vote that's Thanks for Trying. No of us likes that rating. So no rating is better in that one.
We are here to either Help get to the problem or fix it. We don't like to be labeled as having tried. You may think its kind to rate us this way, but it actually hurts our feelings where no vote is better than a TFT.
Once again, let us know what happened.

Hi,
Your post/query re the coin size Lithium battery; said battery is meant to provide back-up power for internal settings, memory, day/date/time and other information the camera was configured to retain even when the main battery is off and/or the AC adapter is not used.
In addition to the removal of the main battery pack and the AC adapter, may I suggest removing said con size battery likewise. This should revert most of the settings to factory default including the day/date/time. Likewise hopefully, the system circuitry would likewise reset itself. Give it a few hours to dissipate whatever stored electricity it may have. Thereafter, you can try and replace the Lithium battery should you think it is warranted. The normal voltage is 3.0 volts for the Lithium battery.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Try a reset:Remove batteries, unplug from Ac source, wait about 10 minutes, and replug. If the issue still occurs, its most likley an issue with the circuitry, for which you will need to contact an authorised service center..
First removed the battery at least 24hours, to reset and remove the remaining power on the unit.. then put it back again the batt.
let me know here again...
