Green light flashing & no picture on Toshiba 40pw13p
The red power light comes on but makes a strange noise then the green light (clock symbol) next to the power light starts to flash - there is no picture or sound & no buttons either on the tv itself or the remote do anything. I have no user manual & have no idea if this is something simple or if the tv is broke?

There is problem with the lamp. It might need to be replaced. The lamp unit is on the bottom-left side of your TV. Loosen thumb screw (by hand) to take the the lamp unit door. Using a screwdriver, loosen two screws of the lamp unit and carefully pull the lamp unit out.
Put a new lamp in reverse order.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is XL2100 you can find it here http://www.discount-merchant.com/Sony-XL-2100U-TV-Lamp-p/sony_xl-2100u_replacement_lamp.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!
Caroline, i am sorry to hear you troubles, and i don`t have any good news for you, the flashing of the power light indicates a fault and its more than just replacing a fuse, there are many protection circuits in your TV to prevent an even more costly repair and one of them is not happy. sorry
My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?
How many times does it blink? I replaced the ballast in my 62HM84 and it fixed it. The problem was TV
would not turn On, Red light solid green light blinked 9 times then TV
would try to restart. At first I thought it might of been the bulb, so
I replaced it, same results. Next I replaced the ballast which is
pretty easy, just take pictures before you remove the light engine so
you can go back to the picture to verify the connections when
