Ok there are several diferent types of fitting but the most common is to push flat bladed screwdriver in to indent at 6 oclock osition while pulling up front of cover then go to 9 & 3 oclock postition & prise side of cover up it is tricky but it will come off.

My dc 35 slim makes a whoowhoo noise and shuts off on its own

Hi Sharon, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson cordless vacuums, DC35's digital motor is engineered to make a pulsing noise to let you know if something is stopping airflow from passing through the machine. This could mean the pre-filter is overdue for a wash, or that there's a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet.

To check for and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

In normal use, we recommend washing the pre-filter at least once a month as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it in the machine.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue and restore full performance to your machine. If you'd like some further guidance from our experts, you're welcome to give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Hi, my Bissell 3920 has lost almost all of its suction. I checked the hoses and tubes but did not find any blockages. Filters are clean. Thanks.

Hi, Have you checked and made sure the floor plate is secure and tight without any gaps around the edges? If that's ok then check the suction hose where it bends down to the floor unit,, lots of times dirt, hair and stuff collects there when the filter was plugged up. remove the floor plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a wire coat hanger to run up the suction hose and back out and clean out any debris, also check the entire hose for blockage ( top to bottom ). if this is all clear and you still have little suction - then the problem could be the vacume motor itself

Why is my vacuum DC 17 Animal shut off when I switch brush to floor mode?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. The brushbar on/off switch shuts the brushbar off for cleaning hard floors - however, the suction motor should continue to run. If the machine shuts off completely when you press the brushbar on/off switch, we'll need to arrange to have the cleaner serviced. To discuss this with one of our experts, please call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email

Kind regards,

I want to oil the bearings in my dyson dc07 upright vacuum...but dont know where theyre located

Hi there SmartAlec from here. Unfortunately this machine does not have bearings that you can oil. You can replace the bearings that are in each end of the brush roller by removing the brush, taking the end caps off and pulling out the bearing and putting new ones in (size 625 from memory). The bearing in the motor however is sealed and cannot be replaced. This model is designed to have a motor replaced if the bearing is failing. I dont know if this is terribly good news for you but it is accurate.
If you live in Australia you can get the bearings and motor from

I have just brought a Dyson DC 07 from an auction . It seems ti have a blockage or somthing in the8 cyclone part

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

With the bin separated from the cyclone top, try lightly banging the side of the cyclone top while holding it over a bin. This should remove any dust or debris caught inside.

If this doesnt clear it a replacement cyclone top can be purchased direct from Dyson via
