I have a Philips powervision TV ,about 11 years old. I have just brought a set top box but after doing everything requested I am getting only 1 channel in black and white. It says in the manual I should set my TV to pal. I have tried the menu on my remote but it doesnt appear to be working. How do you set your tv to pal?.

Your tv should be a multisystem. Is there an option between NTSC and PAL on your TV when you tried the menu on your remote?

I have a Philips Powervision TV which is about 10 years old. All of a sudden the TV has stopped working, and only the RED (TV ON) Indicator is flickering. What are the solutions to solve this issue?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Philips powervision tv

A white horizontal line on a tv is an indication that your vertical circuit is defective. Very common for the vertical IC to go bad. The fuse in a TV set is only there to keep your house from burning down if there is a problem. Your set has a problem. In my area repair should cost you about 100 to 120$. Tube Tv sets have about 5 years of expected life. I would invest my money in a new LED set.

When I turn on TV the power light goes on for 11 blinks and then shuts off and does not show any picture. The TV is one and a half years old.

These blinks are fault codes. To Philips TVs, the way to count these blinks are not direct. It has some procedure. You here say, that it blinks 11. It is not the same number that there should be. Check the site liked here, to know more about how to count these blinking codes to Philips TVs. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

How to connect settop box to tv with no avs

You will have 2 UHF plugs on your set top box.. One for input (aerial) and 1 for output (TV). Connect your main aerial to set top box UHF input and connect an Output UHF lead from set top box to TV. Next switch on set top box and retune tv on a spare channel until you get set top box channels (good idea to switch on menu on set top box so you know you are tuned into set top signal )

My Phillips 32pw8759 TV screen is Permanently blank

There might have been a power surge that had damaged the two units. For the reset, having the tv unplugged overnight should do it. If it does not work you may want to check the power supply of the tv for leaking capacitors or burned resistors or loose solders.

I have lost the red colour. Can I adjust this somehow?

OK. IF THE RED COLUR HAS GONE, YOU PROBABLY NEED TO CALL AN EXPERT. LIKE I TOLD SOMEONE ELSE, IF YOU USE A CABLE BOX, ITS PROBABLY THE CABLE BOX. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HAVE THEM LOOK AT YOUR TV AND YOUR CABLE BOX IF YOU HAVE ONE, AND/OR BUY A NEW TV AND/OR CABLE BOX.

We have no picture, just rainbow pinkish effect, no sound either.

I have a Philips Matchine television which does a similar thing, the problem is in the receiver part of the set, where I have traced the Video signal with an Oscilloscope to a particular Chip (Integrated Circuit). By increasing the Contrast to maximum the picture can be brought back again, but still lacks contrast. The fault is varies as the chip warms up. Therefore you can locate the chip by cooling or heating it from a special non inflammable spray can.Have you tried the scart input which may work OK, then you can use the television as a monitor, as I do. Cost of repair is not worth it.
