Dell colour cartridge is saying it is missing although I have installed it according to the instructions to the Dell Printer.

The cartridge may be defective so plz try with another cartridge

    plz try by the oldest one which was working fine, if the problem is solved then your new cartridge are defective otherwise your printer needs servicing

I have a Dell 942 AIO printer and though I have replaced both ink cartridges, the printer shows "Cartridge Missing - install black or colour cartridge on left hand side"


Have you removed the shipping tape on the print head of each cartridge? Is each cartridge locked in each of their housing? Try reinserting the cartridges. Turn the printer off then on again.

Ink cartridge problem?


Try to re-seat the ink cartridge.

  1. Press your printer's button to position the ink heads for replacement
  2. Then gently pull out the problematic ink cartridge.
  3. Turn the printer OFF to reset the printer's memory.
  4. After about 3 minutes, turn ON your printer and it should now ask for the missing ink cartridge.
  5. Now gently put on the problematic ink cartridge in place.
  6. Let the printer re-charge the inks and clean the ink heads afterward through the printer's maintenance program installed in your computer. (Go to "Printer's and Faxes, right click on your installed printer, then click "Printer's Preferences. Go to the "maintenance tab" and click on something like Print Head Cleaning.)

Colour ink cartridge not recognized. Dell 305 Printer


Have you tried restarting your computer with the printer switched? This sometimes works. Other than this you can get a little device that resets the chip on the rear of the cartridge. This sometimes happens with refilled cartridges.
There are many stationers who stock this gadget.

New color installed, printer says color cartridge missing


Make sure to follow manual instructions carefully and remove any tapes or other packaging materials from the cartridge. Try removing and replacing the cartridge. Make sure to install the color cartridge in the proper slot. Use the "Help" feature in your printer software for more details.

Install cartridge missing on Deskjet 6940


Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.

It was a faulty cartridge! Aparently DELL had a faulty batch from the Phillipines. Problem is now fixed. Thank you.

Install old cartriage, if you still have it, let the machine tell you that it is empty, then go through the install process with one of the new ones.
