Question about Phones

1 Answer

I recently recieved a phone that was on a monthly contract from ym sister, but I just changed over the sim card to a pay as you go and it worked fine. When I tried to change the pin number it now keeps asking my for the PUK number. What is that and how do I get it?

By customer service centre only you can able to get the PUK code! This code is fixed by company authorities

Changing over an iphone

If its an AT&T iPhone you should be able to take it in to them or to straight talk and they will install a prepaid card into it and you will be good to go. I think version will do same if its a version iPhone. It really depends on what company the contract service is with.

Sim lock and it needs password,,that is my problem.thanks

If the SIM is locked you need a PUK code, and that can only be supplied by the service provider.

Check the original documentation supplied with the SIM (if you still have it). Sometimes the PUK is provided. if you don't have it then you must contact the service provider as per the SIM branding; they will only provide the PUK to the registered subscriber so expect security questions. If you don't have a monthly contract and rely upon credit on a prepaid SIM, then unless you registered the SIM you will not be given a PUK code. If that happens, you lose use of the SIM completely along with the phone number and all data/credit stored on it. In that case you'll have to start again with a new SIM card/phone number, but should find that your contacts are still stored on your phone.

Your PUK code is located next to the PIN code when you recieve your SIM card. It's not your phone's code.

I get no recpetion and it has had no coverage for a week now :( what can i do.. i need experts help!

hi, try remove the sim card and placed it back see if you are going to get one.
if that did not work, try put the sim card in another phone and see if it get service, if that works, it m means the sim card is good but it didn't get service, you will need to go change your sim card.
but if the sim card get network in another phone it means the antenna icy of your phone is bad.
cheers

Hi, the mobile phone should be within the 12month contract so you should be able to get it repaired free from three, secondly 3 network ONLY users 3G network coverage so for the sim to work it has to be 1. Unlocked 2. Support 3G reception. Just reply with the make/model of the phone and i will confirm its compatibility for you.

Hope this helps

Phone is coming up with SIM card registration failed

Please try to turn off the Mobile phone , take out the SIM card, wait for 15 seconds to insert it back and try again to turn on.....

If that doesn't help. Try different SIM in phone if available, and also try SIM in different handset.....

Most probably SIM card has gone bad and needs to be replaced from Phone operator

My phone keeps on switching to offline mode and isn't recognising the sim sometimes (please note this is after a dropped my phone on the floor). Model is Nokia N73. Switching my phone on and off sometimes...

It would appear that the problem lie with the SIM card - my phone could no longer read the SIM and therefore only the offline mode was available. I tried my SIM in a different phone and it couldn't be read either. I replaced my SIM with a pay-as-you-go SIM and the phone was working perfectly well again.

I will be speaking to O2 to identify the problem with my SIM.

Try a different O2 SIM in that phone? It sounds like the sim card reader might be dirty or damaged.

If a different SIM doesnt work in there that will be what the problem is. I would try brushing the contacts with a cotton bud dipped in metholated spirits in that case. If that doesnt work you are lookin for a new phone.

If a different SIM works ok then you need to ask for a new SIM from O2 with your number on as yours is slightly damaged.
