Question about Linksys WUSB54GC 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

WUSB54GC cannot associate with access point

I have a wireless USB adapter from Linksys ---WUSB54GC. It worked fine at first. But after about a few hours, it disconnected from the wireless network and now it cannot associate with the access point. (so it says.)
I've searched the internet for solutions and none worked so far.
And sometimes when i plug in the adapter, windows could not recognize the device.
I'm using the adapter on a laptop running Windows XP Pro SP2.
Router: WRT54GL on Windows XP Pro SP2 too.

Help? Thanks

i tried that, but in the end the laptop couldnt even launch windows zero wireless configuration.

i tried replugging the adapter but now windows couldnt recognize the device anymore.

now the main problem is getting windows to recognize the device.

i tried reinstalling the driver, clearing the registry, restarting the computer, did the power down cycle, and also using the add hardware wizard in windows. i managed to direct it to "compact wireless usb adapter" but the device couldnt start.

im giving up hopes on fixing it now and would try any methods if anyone can suggest it. help pls?

    thanks in advance. =)

Hi ian90,

Since u r using a linksys products no need to worry..it will work..

In the right bottom corner of ur computerscreen u can see a green square box(linksys

You have to connect to your network without using wireless then u have to go to the linksys website and download the windows 7 driver. Install that driver then u can connect with wireless. Worked for me! Gl.

I have a linksys wireless usb card and it is not detecting my secured wireless network after configuring it

We need to know the wireless settings on your wireless access-point/router.

Check if the SSID broadcast is enabled on the wireless access-point. If it is disabled, then you have to manually add the SSID to the wireless adapter and make sure the wireless security such as WEP or WPA keys are correct.

You may also enable SSID broadcast so that the wireless adapter will detect your wireless network.

Also, you may try to change the wireless channel to 6 or 11.

WUSB54GC model wireless adapter won't connect after months of use

Instead of using the passphrase use the wep key 1 that you created on the router page when you generate it using the passphrase.

Then when you try to connect using the linksys wireless monitor just leave the passphrase blank and type in the wep key1 box the key that I mentioned earlier.
